They are all they say they are when you screw them onto whatever lens you're using...BUT...if you want to have your mind completely blown: Put one of more of these (especially the 10+) on your favorite good, sharp, fast lens...and then put that lens on a set of extension tubes all stacked together for maximum magnification (such as Kenko tubes) and then go shoot a macro!!! Your world will change.
I can't recommend these highly enough! As soon as they came I tried them out, and I've immediately ordered another set as a spare/back-up!!! I recommend you do the same.
