The WD drive arrived earlier than expected, even though I got free shipping. The drive was easy to reformat for a PC running Windows XP and the available software was easy to download and install. I am using the drive for my backups and the 1 TB can store a large number of them.Digital camera Review: Great Drive!

I am a professional photographer and need a lot of storage space for my photos. I currently have five of these connected to my iMac 24" via Firewire 800. My experience with them has been flawless -- they just work -- no drama, no issues. Highly recommended.
I really like the "smart" power button feature, that lets me shut down drives I don't use very often. So, for example, the drives containing previous year's photos are always wired to the computer, but shut down. On the rare occasions that I do need access to old files, I just power up the drive, get the info I need, and then shut it down again.

This is my 2nd Western Digital external Hard drive; I've never had problems with them, unlike my Iomega hard drive. I have no complaints about the Western Digitals, plus they look cool on my desk! They run quietly, just blinking away! I Love It!
