Digital camera reviews of 2-in-1 USB Hotsync & Charging Dock Cradle with Remote Control for Apple Ipod 3rd, 4th, 5th Generation, Mini, Photo, U2, Nano, Video, Classic, TouchDigital camera Review: Basic remote functions on basic dock Summary: 3 Stars
Pros:
Works as advertised. Easy to use. Compatible with other cables. Dock inserts for a variety of iPod models. Remote works great.
Cons:
Does not work with iPod-to-TV cables (tried Apple's and 2 third party cables). There is no video output. Build quality is questionable. Packaging is odd, mine was double printed which made reading it almost impossible.
Summary:
I bought this dock not knowing if it would work for me. I was looking for a way to add remote control to my iPod Classic that is connected to my Bedroom TV. This did add a working remote however the dock is not compatible with video output. It works great as a charging/syncing dock and/or an audio output dock. I highly recommend for these uses but if you need video I recommend the iLive DVD/CD Player with Docking Station for iPod.
Digital camera Review: Basically useless Summary: 1 Stars
This has lots of great features (menu navigation capability) and the price is right, but these features are basically useless because of the other flaws. Was using with a bose lifestyle system and had to turn up the volume ALL the way to get reasonable sound out of the dock. It effectively cuts volume down 50-60% compared to plugging in audio jack directly to ipod. More importantly the remote is useless. The remote is the entire reason I purchased the dock, and it works from about 5 feet away and nothing more. I can stand 10 feet away and point the remote directly at the dock and it won't respond to any commands. Will be returning immediately and paying 3x more for a dock that works.
Digital camera Review: Better than most... Summary: 4 Stars
Bought this remote after an exhausting search and reading a lot of ratings on other brands. This seemed to be the best. So, I took a chance. Hey, the price was right! Not disappointed at all. So far everthing is working fine. It would be nice if it had a few more features, but for the price, it's a great little base and remote!
Digital camera Review: Disappointing Sound Quality Through Port Summary: 3 Stars
The remote works great with my 5th generation Nano. You can access the menu, playlists...everything! The dock worked fine as well. However, a BIG problem (for me in any case) is the sound quality. My Nano has the headphone input at the bottom ofthe unit, therefore, you have to use the audio port that is located on the docking unit. Unfortunately, the audio port on the docking unit significantly reduces the sound quality. Everything sounds muffled when using the audio port located on the dock. Therefore, I would not recommend this unit UNLESS your audio port is located on top of your iPod, in which case, you could just use the headphone port.
