I bought this charger recently for my iPhone 3GS. But connecting it with my phone and then plugging it into car lighter slot, my phone displayed message "Attached accessory cannot be used for charging iPhone"
It is waste of money for me, as returning this product will cost me more!!!!!
So, do not consider this product for your iPhone 3GS

I have had one of these chargers for quite a while now and both my wife and I used to use it and it worked great! Once I upgraded the firmware on my iPhone at one point it caused a lot of my iPod accessories to stop working or provide only limited functionality. I have a car stereo that used to charge the phone as well and now it only performs a few of the functions it once used to. This is simply Apple being anti-competitive! The reason the manufacturers state that their accessories (including this one) work with the iPhone 3G, 3Gs or whatever, is that when the accessories were designed they did work as specified but somehow Apple has rendered them useless with a simple firmware update. My wife who is much less tech savvy and hasn't updated her phone for the past few firmware updates has no problem with this charger so I just had to pony up and pay for a charger from a company that is forced to pay apple royalties for compatibility reasons. Nonetheless, I've wised up and when my contract is up I'm tossing the apple and getting a device that is a little more open and free market friendly!
