Digital camera Review: Evoluent Vertical mouse is better

I tried this mouse about a decade ago. Worked ok for awhile, but then got in the bad habit of using my fore finger on the top of the mouse for hitting the mouse button! Obviously not how you're supposed to use it. But I ended up ditching it and going back to a regular mouse. Fast forward 5 years and I tried the Evoluent Vertical mouse. MUCH better and sturdier, and more comfortable and less "weird". Evoluent solved my wrist/hand pain. Never going back.Digital camera Review: Fairly good

This did provide some relief to my sore wrist and hand. After a while I feel some strain in my arm. I don't care for the button that activates the scroll function ... it would be better to have a scroll wheel. Other than that it's nice and simple to use. I eventually bought a Kensington trackball with scroll wheel, and I use that mostly, but I still use this 3M ergo mouse regularly for short periods.Digital camera Review: Four years, three systems, one happy wrist

I've used this mouse off and on for about four years, on Windows XP, Mac OS X, and Ubuntu Linux (various versions). If any software came with it I threw it out - it's a USB mouse, after all.
The difference in wrist and forearm comfort is significant. I'll occasionally switch to a traditional mouse for greater control when doing design work, but otherwise it suffices. I miss having a scroll wheel, and the secondary button (on the grip itself) is a bit sensitive, sometimes issuing a double click, but the minor gripe is worth it. I've experienced no thumb pain as at least one reviewer noted.

My desk is 2.6 feet from the floor. This fell off one time and the top began swiveling. It feel off a second time and the top broke off. It is held on by two tiny tabs.
Also, though it helped my carpal tunnel, on the mac there is no easy way to redefine the north south access to something different which led to my shoulder getting out of positon and 4 weeks of chiropractic visits to correct the pain. Thanks, but not thanks. Perhaps the PC software lets you address this, but for me it is a nonstarter

I have very mixed feelings about this mouse. I ordered it based on other recommendations to cure the pain in my wrist I was encountering from too many hours using a regular and marble mouse. I have to admit that to this end, this mouse has worked well for addressing the pain issue. But the new pain I now have is the way this mouse tracks. It is incredibly frustrating how poorly it tracks, and how it tends to jump around the screen for no apparent reason. Even loading the mouse's software tools (not a driver) doesn't give you any way to address this issue. But all-in-all, I guess it's better to be frustrated than in real physical pain.

The tracking issues has been lessened by changing the mouse pad, but unfortunately the pain in my wrist is reappearing.
