This is so much better than a conventional USB memory flash, because I get to take pictures in my digital camera, and download them into my computer, without wasting my batteries, and I can upload music into my Palmone, without hotsync, and I can acces the office documents in my Palmone, in computers where it is not installed, and again, without hotsync. I also find very practicall that I can use different SD memory cards, and use them as if they where USB memory flash. I chose this reader pretty much at random, while I was buying a few 2GB SD cards, but I'm glad I did. It's been completely reliable for transferring data between cameras, MP3 players, and Windows, Linux, and Mac computers. It's a little wider than my other key, but nice and flat so it fits pockets well.
The only things I wish were different about it are:
1. It would be nice if the USB-side cap stored on the opposite side while in use. It's easy to misplace the cap.
2. The plastic case is rather smooth, and would benefit from some texturing to make it easier to grip when removing it (particularly when the USB slots on a machine aren't convenient to get at!)

Although shipped in just a simple small padded envelope, item was not damaged in shipping. Protective end caps fit tightly enough to stay on when not in use. Item fits into a USB port snugly but not overly tight which is also good. Data transfer rate using a 4GB 6x SDHC memory card was about 13 Mb, faster than required for this class of memory card. A winner!
