Digital camera Review: Another Learning Experience

A good webam for the price. Installs easily but the first problem I encountered was "Where do you turn it on?" No shortcut, doesn't show up anywhere in your computer files. Thought my computer had everything but apparently it wasn't set up for cams. There were no instructions included with this device. If you're having the same problem don't panic. Just go to CNET.com and download a program called ManyCam(or something similar). Careful, they'll try to change your home page, install toolbars, etc. during installation unless you opt out. but better picture quality than other cams at a higher prices.
No documentation, but none really needed.
Non-tracking - manual focus by using a ring around the lens
but at this price did you expect tracking?).
Suction cup base holds well.
NO MICROPHONE, but works with one plugged into your computer.
Not a bad buy for the price at all.

I was disappointed when I tried to use this with Windows 2000. Yes, I still have a couple of machines I'm using simply as camera servers with Win2000 on them. They didn't recognize this camera at all. Why isn't there a driver disk?
My computers with XP and Windows7 automatically installed the camera, and I was impressed with the picture quality. I would have gladly paid $30 or $40 for this camera if it had a complete installation disk with it and drivers. What makes it work with XP and not Win2000? Maybe someone can answer that.

This thing rocks for the price - it has built in led lights for low-light use, and requires no drivers in XP! I plugged this thing in and was on skype in under 3 mins. The picture quality is awesome, sure it's not HD but for $6 what do you want??? This really has a great picture. It captures movement well too. My son was taking his first steps while my husband was at work. I put my son on the web cam and my husband could join us in the momentous occasion.
