Digital camera reviews of (5 Colors available) Apple iPod Touch 3rd Generation Silicone skin case cover for iPod Touch 2G 3G, iTouch 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB (newest model)Digital camera Review: Screen Protector is better than the Skin.... Summary: 3 Stars
I ordered this item mainly due to the positive reviews but unfortunately, my reception is lukewarm. Luckily, I didn't spend a lot of money on it and the screen protector seems to be of high quality. For those of you who are getting bubbles, here are a few tips: Start by matching up the edges to the bottom of the iTouch, then SLOWLY roll it down whilst, pushing the air bubbles out with a flat item e.g. flat side of a credit card...that should keep it mostly bubble free. There might still be a few smaller bubbles. Again, try to push them out with a credit card or piece of smooth thick cardboard but if they remain, they "should" disappear in ~ 24 hrs on their own. During that time, do NOT turn the iTouch on as the heat will make it sticky...just let it rest, turned OFF for a day or so.
As for the skin, I am disappointed by the fit. It is just a touch too "loose". I think the problem is that to save cost, they left a huge opening for the bottom of the iTouch (where USB port + headphone port goes) so it kinda "hangs" loosely ~ loose T-shirt...I keep finding myself squeezing the sides in to try to make it shrink which of course it won't ! In all likelihood, I will end up purchasing a better skin as I am anal-retentive. I wonder if it is meant for the 2G version? Is that one thinner? Although they do mention for both 2G/3G and they made the impressions for the new volume controls. It's apparent though that think they didn't custom-fit it though to the 3G model.
Digital camera Review: To me, this was a "so - so" purchase Summary: 3 Stars
The good:
The silicone case for the itouch is nice. It's easy to put on, fits well, and allows for easy use of the buttons. It's not too bulky and it seems to protect the Itouch pretty well. Finally no more fingerprints, and no more slippery itouch. Since the case was the most important part of the purchase where I am concerned, I am giving this product 3 stars.
Now for the bad:
*The screen protector took quite a while to put on without noticeable bubbles. I don't know how the other reviewer did it, but I struggled with it, even though I was careful to put it on slowly (I used to laminate things a lot, so I'm familiar with the process). I will say though that lining it up was easy, but those bubbles showed up in the worst places.
*Instead of the minisuit pouch that is pictured, I received what can only be described as the cut off upper part of a knit sock that is sewn together on the bottom. It's more like an Itouch cozy.
I ordered a pink and a grey case, and received a grass green/yellow, and a purple/ grey "cozy". Perhaps if I didn't live in Florida, my Itouch would be comfortably warm in it? ;)
Also, on a sidenote, perhaps I am showing that I'm new to the Ipod world, but I had absolutely no clue what the Nike+ pouch was for. In case anybody else is wondering: It's for a Nike+ Ipod sensor/ adaptor kit which allows you to measure your running performance. The pouch attaches to your shoelace, and you can see the sensor in the product picture. To restate the product description though, the sensor kit does not come with the purchase. At any rate, if you expect to see a Nike logo anywhere, there isn't one.
So overall, I am "OK" with my purchase of the itouch cases, but was a little disappointed with the additional accessories.
Digital camera Review: Use as a FRONT Cover on 4th Gen Touch Summary: 4 Stars
I was looking for an easy way to carry my 4th Gen iPod Touch in my pocket. Thanks to the wonders of serendipity, I had an old 3rd Gen soft silicone case lying around and wondered: could I fit the old 3rd Gen case over the front of my 4th Gen Touch (with its hard shell case still on!) to protect my new Touch's glass face?
Wonder of wonders, the perfect storm of 3rd Gen being slightly thicker, soft silicone being slightly stretchy and very grippy, and my current 4th Gen Touch case being super thin (just a thin hardshell that clasps the sides, with top and bottom "open"), allowed the 4th Gen to snuggle into the nicely form fitting 3rd Gen case - backwards and upside down, so the 4th Gen Touch's glass screen is now protected by the soft silicone (which nicely absorbs minor impacts from keys and other pocket junk) while the hard case made specifically for my 4th Gen protects its back from scratches.
Cool! Repurposing works again!
(For those of you actually looking for a case for a 3rd Gen, stay away from these thick silicone cases, I started with them but moved to the much thinner, form fitting hard shells, which don't make the beautiful Touches look like porker Zunes....for example see 2Tone (Red + Black) Rubberized HARD CASE FOR APPLE IPOD TOUCH ITOUCH 2nd 3rd GEN 2G/3G 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB but be sure to scour the Amazon Marketplace for the color and exact style you want, should be under 6 dollar if you include the shipping.)
(I put the dock connector into the "top" end of the 3rd Gen protector so pocket lint can't get in - the 3rd Gen protector dock connector opening leaves a small portion of chrome on the top of my 4th Gen slightly exposed....)
Digital camera Review: Well worth the money! Summary: 5 Stars
My order arrived well before the end of the delivery window. The silicone case fits the iPod very well, and it seemed tough enough to last. It goes around the edges to ensure the best protection. The screen protector that came with it goes on very easily and, getting out any bubbles is no problem. I can't even tell it's on there, but I know my screen will be well protected. Well worth the money!
Digital camera Review: Works, but not great Summary: 2 Stars
This is a good soft case but it is very staticy so lots of dust, dirt and hair cling to it making for an uncomfortable feel that also causes some scratching to the back side of the iPod. The case also rubs down very easily and leaves "particles" on the screen and around its edges. The protective screen cover does not come off it's packaging sheet very easily and has a sticker on it that covers a tiny bit of the screen, not a big deal, just annoying. While scrolling or playing games, it is easy to knock the unsteady edges of the case. One shouldn't complain that much, after all it is all currently under six dollars but I would recommend buying (and possibly more expensive case) a better case.
... But the bag works.
