Digital camera reviews of 500GB USB 2.0 Port Ext HDDigital camera Review: Excellent so far!! Summary: 5 Stars

Digital camera Review: Excellent, solid drives; great for PS3, too! Summary: 5 Stars
I have three lesser-capacity drives from this model line and have used them for a while and they have worked flawlessly, as hard drives should. I bought two 500GB ones to add to my backup set.
These iPod Touch-look-alike pocket drives are lightweight and give you good speed for a drive this size (hint: don't expect 7,200RPM!). The built-in shock absorber helps protect the data. The drives are quiet and stay cool even after extended use.
One great thing about these Toshiba drives is they come formatted as FAT -- at least it's a great thing for PS3 owners, anyway. PS3 can only recognize FAT or FAT32 external drives, and formatting a driver bigger than 32GB in the FAT or FAT32 format requires a third-party program like the freeware Easeus Partition Manager (available at download. com), so these Tosh drives can be used readily with the PS3.
To convert to the NTFS format so you can store big files (i.e., >4GB), simply go to the DOS prompt via the "cmd" command (from Run or Search), then type "convert g: /fs:ntfs" where g: is your Tosh drive letter. All existing files are preserved.
As explained on the back of the packaging, Windows reports the drive's total capacity as 465GB, not 500GB, due to the different definitions of what 1 GB actually is.
Great pocketable external drive, for PCs and PS3s.
Digital camera Review: External HD Toshiba 500 GB USB 2.0 Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for a portable, large capacity storage device and I found it. Plus it has a nice design and a competitive price.
Digital camera Review: File Saver Summary: 5 Stars
At about the size of a deck of cards, this attractive, easy to install and easy to use hardware is a great storage device for any important documents, photos, music, etc. that you do not want to keep on your computer hard drive. Plus, it is a good back up system in case your computer crashes and you lose everything.
Digital camera Review: Good Drive but cord disconnects easily Summary: 3 Stars
I ordered the 320G version based on the great reviews, but I am having a problem. The USB cord is a loose fit. I have tried other USB cords with it, so, it's not that the USB cord is flawed, it's the socket on the drive that is slightly too large for a secure fit.
If I just barely move the drive when it is attached to the computer, the USB connection breaks and the drive powers down. It starts right back up when I push the USB cable back in, but if this happened when I was accessing the drive or if I were doing a backup, I would certainly lose data.
I would buy another except for that defect, which is a big enough defect for me to buy the slightly bulkier La Cie instead.
Anyone else have this problem? If so, how did you resolve it?
