This cord works perfectly with our high end home AV system. I wasn't convinced that I would get much for the money, but I was willing to take a chance since it was so inexpensive. This cable allows me to plug my laptop into my receiver so I can watch DVDs off my laptop in 5.1 DTS and Dolby Digital.
You just need a headphone port that doubles as a digital S/PDIF port. This applies to most laptops/mac-books but not ipods/ZUNEs which will still require a docking attachment.
This cable also has decent strength and shielding. The caps to the edges are attached to the cable so I just plug them back on when I'm not using it.
