Digital camera reviews of (9 Color Available) Mivizu iPod Touch 2nd Gen 3rd Gen hard rubber skin case cover for iPod Touch 3rd Generation 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB with screen protectorDigital camera Review: B+ Summary: 5 Stars
This is by far one of the most reliable cases that I have bought. I got this about a week ago, and this whole week I've been testing it out for my tech review blog, and I must say, it passes with a B+. The grip is very sturdy and feels like it won't fall out of your hand. As if it's an attachment to your hand. I have a rigorous workout plan, so I'm very worried about my iPod Touch 3G falling out of my hand or my pocket, but I don't have to worry no more. I've dropped it a couple of times and it hasn't even gotten a scratch! To be honest, I would do without the logo on the back, but that doesn't matter. It has a beautiful structure and the way they made it was pure customer satisfaction. I mean c'mon $7.95 for a $29.95 case?! You've got to be crazy to not buy this! I am a Griffin Technology kinda guy, but Mivizu just got one more fan. Oh and I am absolutely in love with the the fact that it's a hard rubber case! I thought it was rubber but it turned to be a hard rubber!
Update: okay so 1 year later and I've sold my iPod Touch along with this Mivizu case. The little piece on the side that would lock whenever you would slide the case together broke about a week ago. So the case lasted me a year. I didn't drop my iPod that much so it probably must have become worn out by all the pulling and putting it back together. I highly recommend this case since it lasted me a good year. I liked it a lot and feel a bit nostalgic reading this review since I was psyched getting my first iPod Touch! Peace.
Digital camera Review: BEST CASE EVER!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I was a little skeptical about purchasing this case at first, but upon arrival I realized that it was exactly what I was looking for. The case has a great feeling to it and I love the color. The screen protector was a little frustrating to put on but I suppose that they all are. Other than that this case was worth the money, even if I bought it for list price I would definitely recommend it to a friend (If I had any). I hope this review was helpful to anybody considering purchasing this product.
Digital camera Review: Beautiful case with a few issues and inconsistent quality Summary: 4 Stars
This is a beautiful case. I bought the red one for my iPod Touch 3G, and I love the metallic red color. I even think the wavy line across the back of the case where the two halves join is pretty attractive. It does not add a lot of bulk to the iPod touch and feels very smooth and comfortable in my hand. The sleep and volume buttons are very accessible, as are the dock port and headphone port. The screen protector that came with it is easy to put on, fits very well, and the edges end up under the lip of the case where it comes around the front.
I've had it for about two months now, and so far very little dirt or dust has gotten trapped underneath (as there are openings for the buttons, I'd expect some dirt to get in there). It is easy for me to slide the two halves apart to check for dust, and so far there hasn't been any. The screen protector hasn't started peeling around the edges, probably because the edges of the screen protector are protected by the case.
There are three caveats though:
1) As the other reviewers mentioned, it is a tad loose. It hasn't come apart on me, but if I pull on all 4 corners at once, the two halves jiggle apart a bit. I have been considering buying a protective sticker-type cover for the back (similar to the screen protector for the front) to make the fit a little tighter. I am pretty gentle on my iPod touch, however, so it has never been a problem for me. If I were to regularly stuff this device into my back pocket and take it running and such, I would probably either buy another case or tape this one together to ensure that the two halves wont' separate.
2) The opening for the volume buttons is rather large, and exposes part of the back of the iPod Touch. Not a lot, but it exposes more of the iPod than any of the other openings. On the one hand, this allows the part that is exposed to get scratched, but on the other hand it makes hitting the volume buttons much easier.
3) While the Apple charging cable plugs nicely into the iPod while the case is on, some 3rd party chargers/docks do not. If the the plastic part of the dock/charger is wider or thicker than the exposed metal part, the bottom half of the case must be removed in order to charge the iPod. In all fairness, my friend has a one piece silicone case that has the same problem - she says it would be nice to be able to just remove the bottom half in order to charge the iPod. It is not much of a factor for me because my cables have a fairly thin connector.
All in all, the case works quite well for me but those with different requirements may want to consider a different case.
EDIT/UPDATE: I bought a second one for my iPod Touch 2G, and it seemed a little different. There are two tabs on the side that lock together; these tabs seem to be made of flimsier plastic than on the old one, and it was a bit tricky to slide the two halves of the second case together. Also, the screen protector that came with the new one was hard - one side was sticky, and the other side was already pretty scratched up and dull. The screen protector that came with my original case (for the 3G) was not hard, and was just one of those stickers that you put on any small device screen. It was much easier to put on - I couldn't get the hard one on easily and I don't think I'd want it anyway given how easily scratchable the non-sticky side was. I think I will buy a different screen protector.
The two halves seem to fit a little more tightly, although I'm not sure if that is because there is a very tiny size difference between the 2G and 3G iPods or because the cases were very slightly different. Other than that, the plastic tab issue, and the different screen protector, both praises and criticisms from my original review apply to the new case. About the screen protector: if you leave the original one that came with your iPod on, the case covers the edges pretty well. I'm sure the case would perform just as well on another screen protector that was soft and stuck to the screen.
I'm pretty sure I ordered the same case, since I went to the Amazon orders page and just re-ordered the one I had ordered before. I gave the previous case a 4 (4.5 really, but I you can't give half stars), but I'd give this one a 3 - mainly because I have to get a new screen protector. However, while the product quality and the screen protector type seem inconsistent, the case itself is still pretty good. I'd down-rate the seller but I still think the case itself deserves 4 stars.
Digital camera Review: Better than expected! Summary: 5 Stars
I was very pleasantly surprised when I received my new Mivizu case. Having tried one lousy product after another I had almost given up. I just wanted something affordable, that looked good and offered a some protection and feel. This is it.
I honestly can't say anything negative about the product. It is what it claims. It fits my brand new Touch (3g) perfectly, which is nice as a previous one left enough room to where I could actually hear it move in the case. Also, I LOVE that it has a tacky feel to it. I worried it might be too slick, but not at all. It feels like it is coated with a rubbery finish. I never feel like it is going to slip out of my hand, which , as those of you with Touch's know, they are not always easy to hold onto.
Another thing I was glad to see was that it was finished both inside and out. Many of the cheaper covers that look similar to this one are little more than a white plastic shell that has been spray painted, and not entirely so on the inside of the case. Maybe the inside won't be seen much but I prefer the finished look and it says something about the company that they are not trying to skip on paint or quality.
I hear that some have experienced issues with the two pieces coming apart too easily. That has not been the case with mine. It is very snug. I can see that it might come apart if it were dropped, but dropping it is not something I hope to do much.
I have the red one and it is awesome. It is a great deep, rich, metallic shade and looks great. Again, the finish seems to be fairly high quality as these things go. The extra screen protector it came with was a bonus. I didn't need it, but they are nice to have around.
Anyways, ultimately, about the best thing I could say about this product is that it turned out to be just what it claimed. That is saying a lot for these kinds of products, as those of you who have been shopping by trial and error can probably attest to.
Digital camera Review: Black case does not stay together! Summary: 1 Stars
The Black case I bought does not hold together at all. I thought it just might be a defective product. So I contacted the company and they shipped me a new one free of charge. But the new one is even worse than the old one. I have had to tape the back together to keep it connected. The two sides just dont hold.
The screen protector is the only positive thing about this product. It works as described.
So beware this case. Two different cases and they both dont hold together.
