I live in the lightning capital of the nation (Tampa Bay) and have never experienced a problem with this unit. In general, APC has been a brand which I have relied upon in the past and have always been pleased with.
In regards to this product, APC has met my high expectations by delivering a reasonably priced product that is well constructed and thoughtfully laid out. I very much appreciate the spacing of the plugs on this unit as well as the rotating power cord joint which doesn't feel flimsy despite allowing considerable flexibility.
My only wish (and not one which should detract from the review in any way) is that the unit was available in white and/or neutral colors as well as the black.

I mounted this unit to the back of my TV stand, with screws. It has a pretty low profile, and works great.
I have the following plugged in:
Belkin Powerdock (for iPods)
Bose SoundDock
Nintendo Wii
Samsung 32" LCD HDTV
Scientific Atlanta 8300HDC (AC/Coax)
Sony BDP-S370 (AC/Ethernet)
Ethernet protection does not seem to create any noticeable issues with my Sony BDP-S370, streaming wise. I've also not have any issues with my Scientific Atlanta 8300HDC, from Time Warner, while using Coax protection.
In general usability, the unit is designed well. The cord can swivel on the side, as needed, and the power switch is easy to find, when not looking directly at the unit. I would recommend this Surge Protector to anyone, for their home entertainment center needs. I can't attest to the protection, but APC has one of the best protection ratings, in the business, and backs it up.

I use this product with every confidence that it will protect my expensive electronic devices (TV, DVR, Cable box, etc.) and have experienced only one minor issue -- pixelation problems with the coaxial protector. At first, I thought it was due to poor cable service, but once the cable tech said the cable lines were already protected from surges, I bypassed the surge protector and have far fewer pixelation issues. Overall, great product and still going strong after three years.
