This answering machine has poor quality of speech reproduction and apparently no way to play back messages when trying to retrieve missed information. The brochure says, "For Customer Service or Product Information, Visit our Website at www.telephones.att.com."; however, this website is concerned ONLY with telephone calling services and denies any connection with electronic products. They refer to their Ask Allie service (att.com/allie) which, again, is exclusively related to telephone calling. I had no choice but to give it 1 star; it doesn't deserve even 1.
Digital camera Review: Never Worked Summary: 1 Stars
The machine never worked. It randomly plays the outgoing message for no apparent reason, even when there's no incoming phone call. After wading through a very long menu of options at the tech support number I got to a person and was told I'd have to return it at my expense, even though it's in warranty.If you look at other sites with reviews on this machine you'll see that my experience that the unit didn't function correctly isn't unique. Save your money!
Digital camera Review: Not a good product, misleading sales tactic Summary: 1 Stars
First, I bought this unit as an accessory to a Uniden 2 line digital cordless phone, therefore, I made the mistake in assuming the answering machine would work for both lines. It does not. If anyone is buying this to go with a 2 line phone, save yourself the trouble. Amazon should not list this product with 2 line phones.
Another flaw is that you cannot have each mailbox have a different message. For example, if you need to use 2 mailboxes for totally separate purposes, you have to record the same message that will apply for both mailboxes, which means people calling in will have to waste time listening to information that does not apply to them.

I dont use the multiple mailbox features, so I dont know exactly why I bought this one vs some of the others but none the less.
Audio quality is rather decent but not as good as my old Panasonic but better then a GE I tried.
Unit keeps messages during power outages without the need for a battery
Date and Time can be set through CID so theres no need to fiddle with it after a power outage.
Drawbacks-
The Private Call block feature is nice however it doesnt seem to catch all Blocked calls (name comes without number or private name with number) and doesnt help avoid 'unavailables'.
The setup process is slightly clumsy, thankfully you dont have to enter it often.
You cannot set a remote access code that has a first digit of 1-4.
Took a few tries to get the remote access codes memorized, but there is a help code which can be of use.
Finally, if you live off the grid or have backup power through a modified-sine wave inverter, this unit will occasionally 'pick up' when there is no incoming call and not pick up when there is a call. I havent tried if this unit can handle a full 12v feed directly from my batteries vs the mini 9v wall wart....something to test.
Overall, I think id do it again. The partial blocked call feature is worth it as my local phone company doesnt offer anonymous call restriction.
Digital camera Review: One big problem with the instructions... Summary: 3 Stars
The instructions for recording your own message are unusable - once you select the greeting that you want to record (it allows pre-recording four) you have to wait twenty seconds or so for the system to reset. (The instructions don't mention this.) THEN, though the letter for the announcement you are recording is no longer displayed in the screen, you can hold down the button and it works as advertised. If you don't wait, holding down the button simply steps you to the next greeting slot.(I didn't diagnose this psychically - I called customer service after trying all the alternatives I thought of.) They don't tell you this on the ATT recorded voice mail help line either - you push *3 when the voice mail system starts offering options to talk to a real person. The help line's advice for this problem beyond "Make sure it's plugged in" is turn the power off for 60 seconds and then repower it so the software will reset, so that's probably also worth trying if you have trouble with the machine sometime. Though you have a choice about whether it plays your recorded announcement into the room when someone calls, the message someone is leaving always plays while they leave it. (There is a volume button right on the front, so I guess you could turn the sound on when you wanted to listen to a message and then turn it off again until the next time.) Otherwise, it seems respectable so far - the sound's adequate, and it's reducing my phone bill by $6.95 a month.
