Digital camera reviews of AT&T 1739 Corded Digital Answering System, White

Digital camera Review: Answering machine
Summary: 4 Stars

Nice product that is easy on your wallet and simple to use. Price was low too.

Digital camera Review: Answering machine works well
Summary: 4 Stars

This A&T answering machine works very well and picks up messages easily. It is lightweight and does not take up space. The only problem is having to reset the time and date which even includes the year. AT&T 1739 - Corded Digital Answering System

Digital camera Review: Basic and functional, does the job for low cost
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this needing a basic answering machine that I could figure out how to set up. I had returned a store brand from a local retailer, who said it would be easy, but I couldn't even get the date set up.

This machine's instructions are easy enough to follow. Nice feature is that you can delete individual messages. There is also an audio verification of your settings. Only downside to this model is the sound quality. Your own voice recording will not sound like yourself, so I made use of that, and did a little skit of a celebrity in rehab. (I have since changed that to a basic message.) The sound quality of recorded incoming messages is okay. The old cassette answering machine I owned had excellent recording, but after ten years, it finally jammed after serving me well.

So for the low price and ease of use, I could recommend this to others if you are okay with a bit of distortion in your voice. You can play with that and it will sound better than the pre-recorded announcement that sounds like a game show voiceover.

Digital camera Review: Basic, not great
Summary: 3 Stars

After a job change, I now work exclusively from home. I already have a second phone number for work purposes, but needed an answering system. Phone company is not yet able to provide voice mail on the second number (distinctive ring, not a separate line), so I opted for a physical answering machine. After some research, I decided on the AT&T 1739.

It arrived quickly, and set up quickly. Its biggest drawback is the poor sound quality when recording the outgoing message. You are told to speak over a minuscule condenser mic, and it took a good 4 attempts before I was remotely happy with the sound of it. You get some snow and static, no matter where you are when you record.

Other than that, it works just fine. I don't expect to use it all that much, so for the price, it was a good buy.

Digital camera Review: Better than expected
Summary: 4 Stars

My previous digital answering machine became unintelligible and, rather than subscribe to phone mail, I opted for yet another digital answering device. I chose this one mainly for the price and simplicity of use.

IMPORTANT HINT: I found that the device had to be almost 2 feet away when recording my outgoing message. Any closer and it quickly became too garbled to understand. At this greater distance it picked up the message properly and it sounds just fine.

I am impressed with the quality of the recorded call messages.

One real curiosity is that the date stamp has time and day as well as year, but no month. For the life of me I have no idea why year should be relevant. Hmmmmm, let's see, what year did I receive that call???

In all, I'm most pleased with this unit and highly recommend it.
