We bought and returned two of these machines because they would ring but not pick up and record incoming calls. We called ATT both times and they said to return the machines. For 17 bucks this is about the best purchase I have made in a long while. We finally gave up our answering machine with a magnetic tape for data storage. Instead of paying $5 a month for voice mail with the phone company, I found this item on Amazon. I guess it's not the latest and greatest technology-wise. But, for the price it does everything we need, and came with free shipping to boot. I highly recommend it if you just want a basic machine that's easy to set up and works fine.Digital camera Review: Cheap

I bought one for $14.99 at Target today. It works without setting anything. If you want to reset the default time and year then persevere. After 20 mins of trial and error with pushing "clock", I finally got it the go around from am to pm. This is very easy to use. The directions are very clear and I had it ready to go in a matter of minutes. Due to "tough economic times" my husband and I have downsized from a phone-line with all the "bells and whistles" to basic service. We are able to screen calls this way since we no longer have caller ID. We've had it less than a week so we shall see if we have any problems down the road. So far I really like this machine!
