As I cannot use a wireless phone (I get dizzy from the radiation) I bought this phone for my bedroom. It has all the features I could ask for save two - an illuminated display and date and time display. My ancient Radio Shack phone has them - why not this one? You can get the date and time by pressing a button and it is announced - a good night time feature. I would like it on the display, too. Messages are clear and it's obvious when you have received one. The caller ID and answering functions do seem to have been created by separate departments and grafted together but they work.Digital camera Review: Good phone but needs better display

I've had this phone for four months now and have had zero problems with it. The only criticism I have is the lack of backlighting for the display. You can adjust the contrast of the display somewhat, but I really underestimated the value of a well-lit display when I purchased this. If you plan to place this phone right under a light, you may not have this issue.Digital camera Review: Good value

This phone works as expected, although I have a minor complaint about usability. On most answering machines I've had, the "Listen to messages" button is large and easily identifiable.
On this phone, however, the large lighted button actually turns the answering function on and off.
You have to press the South quadrant of the ring surrounding this button to actually listen to messages (similar in use to a cell phone 4-way button.)
Not very intuitive...

Great product for those who are hard of hearing. I purchased this item for my 85 year old mother who is hard of hearing. I work at a school for the deaf and previously order two phones made especially for those with hearing problems. Although she could hear the speaker on the other end, the clarity of her voice was sounded muffled. I had to return both of them to another vendor that supplies products for hard of hearing people. I had heard that this phone so I purchased in from Amazon and gave it a try. It was a great selection! The volume is loud enough for my mother to hear the caller and the clarity of her voice is superb to the listener. This is the phone to get if you need that extra hearing boost!
