Digital camera reviews of AT&T 210 Corded Phone, White, 1 Handset

Digital camera Review: AT&T Versus, um, AT&T
Summary: 4 Stars

I just received this White Trimline 210 phone from Amazon. It looks/works great, and I expect I will be as satisfied as most of the other reviewers.

While I still have the packaging, I wanted to clear up some confusion I had prior to purchase about the clever marketing relationship between AT&T (the big one) and AT&T (a separate entity/manufacturer called Advanced American Telephone). Here's the legalese from the side of the box:

"Made in China.

"(C) 2007 Advanced American Telephones. All rights reserved. AT&T and the AT&T logo are trademarks and the graphic design of this package is a trademark of AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P. a/b/a AT&T Intellectual Property, licensed to Advanced American Telephones. The graphic design of this package is (C) AT&T Intellectual Property, 2006. All rights reserved. TRIMLINE (R) is a registered trademark of Advanced American Telephones."

It's fairly clear that a lot of legal and marketing thought has gone into trying to make this look like an authentic "AT&T phone" when it is definitely something less than that. It is...."an AT&T BRANDED (and/or Licensed) phone." For example, warranty issues are not handled by AT&T in any way, but by, um, AT&T -- if you catch my drift.

Personally, I don't have a problem with any of the above in this case because the phone seems to be a good value and quality -- as the reviews suggested. But it certainly does not have the weight and heft and durability that we remember from, say, Bell Products or the (way) old "Phone Company" days -- part of the heritage and identity that the "branding" of this phone is trying to leverage. For today's purposes, however, it's close enough. The look and feel of this phone is solid. I hope it works and lasts for a while.

Digital camera Review: AT&T used to make good phones
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this phone along with a cordless AT&T phone, and they both quit working within 4 months. I will never order any phones ONLINE again. Will buy them from a nearby source, where I can easily take them back for a refund. Will not buy from AT&T until they improve, if ever.

Digital camera Review: Adequate
Summary: 3 Stars

Due to a very limited space for a wall phone, this one serves the purpose very well. However, having purchased several of them in the last few years I have to say they do not hold up to constant usage. They meet my needs and the price is reasonable so until I can find another phone that fits my requirements I will probably continue to use this model - at the moment I have two "spares." Hopefully that will serve me for 3-4 years.

Digital camera Review: An "old dependable"
Summary: 5 Stars

This phone is strong and sturdy (though over the years I've managed to break one or two by repeatedly dropping them) and has all the basic features I want, including the three easy-to-program speed dials, the redial button, the volume control, and -- for me the most useful of all -- a switch to turn off (or to simply lower the volume on) the electronic ring, so I can let the answering machine pick up calls when I'm asleep. And of course a land-line phone is not going to be useless if the electricity ever goes off. I seem to recall that this model may once have come in brown, and apparently it doesn't anymore; I do miss that. Otherwise, it's ideal.

Digital camera Review: Basic, but servicable
Summary: 3 Stars

For the price, this phone serves its purpose well. The one thing that keeps it from getting five stars is that the phone does not have an off/on switch.
