Digital camera reviews of AT&T SL82318 DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone, Silver/Gray, 3 HandsetsDigital camera Review: AWESOME phone Summary: 5 Stars
This phone has it ALL, and I am picky. Yes, the range is hands over fist over the 5.8 one we replaced. But it has all the "comfort" features I love: belt clip, a place for the headphone to go in; a mute feature so you can have a quick side conversation with someone in the room and the person you are talking to cannot hear it; intercom between handsets; and even an easy-to-use volume adjustment on the side of the phone (like on a cell phone) to adjust volume per caller. REALLY glad I read all the reviews and that's why I am leaving one - I had almost ordered another phone on amazon until I read those bad reviews and then kept looking and found so many positive comments about this phone. I concur! And one side note: I think it is a better looking phone set in person than in the picture.
Digital camera Review: Absolutely awful. Waste of money! Summary: 1 Stars
I doubt a worse phone could be made. The handsets have no grip. This makes it impossible to press the buttons with just one hand. Also, during conversations there are short blips of sound where each party thinks the other hung up.
Another annoyanceis that the ear piece will not emit sound if you are talking. Sometimes, dialogue between two people requires the other speaking and hearing at the same time. It can be confusing when you are speaking to someone who is in a noisy environment because as soon as you begin to speak, the ear piece mutes and you cant hear the background noise present at the other end. This seems like it could be a good thing but I find it distracting.
And lastly, there is a delay from when you press a single number on the handset to when it beeps. This makes you think you are not pressing the button in far enough. But when you go back to press it again, the beep sound occurs. This is fine as long as you havent already pressed the number again. Otherwise, you have to start over. What a pain! I'm going back to Panasonic!
Digital camera Review: Absolutely love it Summary: 5 Stars
I LOVE these new phones. They are such an improvement on the VTECH crap we've been using the last 2 years (HORRIBLE batteries, completely dead after 2 years). The range is wonderful, sound quality crystal clear, easy to use all the special features, the list could go on. I highly recommend these phones.
Digital camera Review: Almost perfect! Summary: 5 Stars
I just got these phones and set them up in a few minutes without ever having to look at the manual. I did a lot of research before getting these, and it was a close call between this set and the Panasonic Dect 6.0 Series 3. The main deciding factor for me was the phonebook, which is automatically shared between all the handsets of the AT&T phones. I live alone, and I don't want to have to jump through any hoops to make an entry and have it available on all the handsets. I bought this set to replace a V-Tech set that I loved up until the handsets started dying one by one (no, it wasn't the batteries).
The other basic features I like about these phones are the handset speakerphones (which have terrific sound), the headset jacks on each handset (which I haven't tried yet), and the large, easy to read buttons. It's also kind of cool that you can set a different ring tone for each handset.
I use Vonage for my phone service, so I have no need of the answering system. A real bonus to me, though, is that the phones immediately recognized that I had a voicemail on Vonage, and displayed on the handsets that there was a message waiting.
The one feature that makes this phone set less than perfect is that the phonebook is limited to 50 entries. That may sound like a lot, but I quickly filled it. I have a lot more entries than that in my cell phone, which I'll just have to refer to for those less frequently used numbers. I would have given this 4½ stars if that were possible, but it's not enough of a problem to drop the score by a whole star. All in all, this is exactly the phone set I've been looking for.
P.S. I recommended the Panasonic set instead of this one to a friend of mine for her mother, who doesn't ever use the phonebook feature, and who mainly wants to be able to hold the phone with her shoulder. These AT&T phones are too thin for that. They do come with belt clips, though.
Digital camera Review: An excellent cordless phone with one caveat Summary: 4 Stars
AT&T SL82318 DECT 6.0 Digital Three Handset Answering System (Silver/Gray)
This cordless phone with four additional handsets has been working very well in every room of a large two-storey reinforced concrete house for the past month: the setup is easy, the voice quality is excellent, and the handsets can be used as far as 250 feet away from the house.
But since the house is on a small West Indian island that has frequent power outages it should be noted that the hour and minutes of the clock in the base station need to be reset after every power interruption, no matter how momentarily. This could be a nuisance if you are visited by frequent power outages.
