about $20 cheaper than the plastic lense hood canon sells. what's best is that since it's rubber, it collapses to a thinner size and can slip into a pocket or pouch. too bad it cost $8 for S&H.

Lens hoods guard against uncontrolled, stray light and unwanted reflections which result in reduced contrast and possible "ghost Images".
