Digital camera Review: These aren't your Daddy's speakers

Ordering and shipping of speakers worked out ok. Not very hard to hook-up either. Sound quality is fine for the price, but don't play any heavy bass on these. Also, dials are small and very hard to adjust. The speakers are so light that they move when you try to adjust the volume. The tone control has very little range from bass to treble.
Though for the price you could do worst.

My speakers at work stopped working, and my boss purchased these as a replacement. He probably found them for about $15 at some hole in the wall. They're awful. If you take a pair of headphones, plug them into your computer's audio line out jack, place them next to your monitor, and turn the volume all way up, you'll have reproduced the effect of plugging these speakers in. There is no bass whatsoever. Altec Lansing has always been absolute trash as far as I have experienced, and anyone who says otherwise either has bad hearing, works for Altec Lansing, or both. Wouldn't it be hilarious if all the quality testers at Altec Lansing had bad hearing? It would certainly explain matters.Digital camera Review: Yikes! Very tippy speakers!

Sound is fine; just what one should expect from a pair of speakers under $20. Handy to have an earphone jack in front. My biggest complaint is that these speakers are extremely unstable standing up. I've heard the expression "like balancing a pencil on its eraser head" which is an apt description here! As such, you could not adjust the volume with just one hand because it WILL tip over (maybe if you Velcro-ed them down ... hmmm ...). Product design flaw which may not bother some people but I think I will replace them.Digital camera Review: decent but not great

I own a pair of Altec Lansing ATP3 back home and they are the best speakers you can get in that range and budget. I was in the market for a cheap pair of speakers to hook my laptop up to. This pair looked good and the Altec Lansing name clinched it.
The speakers are good, however they are nowhere close to great. I am no audiophile but the songs sound a little bland. The max volume is not very high and should have been much higher. There is no bass control, just an on/off control, treble and volume.
As the title says - decent pair of speakers and probably a good buy at this price (~$20) but nothing great.

I've had these speakers now for like 2 maybe 3 years now, no problem.I only bought them cause my pc i bought didnt have speakers which I didnt know till I got home and hooked it up so I was like I'm going to run to the store pick up some cheap speakers which I purchased these and I've been really pleased with these speakers.
