I think these are great for the price. They have a nice sound and charge the ipod while playing or just docked. I have a nano so use one of the supplied adapters. It holds it securely. I'm sure if it got knocked off the shelf it would fall out but other than that catastrophe it is secured.
If you travel there are a number of pieces to adapt the AC adapter to other types of plugs or you can use batteries. The carry case is nice and has pockets for accessories and your ipod. I just got it after Christmas but I like it. I have heard a couple popping sounds I think but I'm not totally sure. I'm saving my paperwork just in case.

I love this little speaker system and now have one in the office and one at home for moving around the apartment and for travelling. It is small and compact, and comes with international plugs so you can take it around the world. Having the plugs is critical - you don't want to have to worry about batteries when travelling - but it does mean that, eg, you can't take this system as easily to the beach. The sound is good enough (you're never going to get great sound with travel speakers), and it fantastically charges your ipod while you listen to music, which is great. My biggest complaint is that the audio re-sets to a default (and quite loud) level every time you turn it on or off, so you just have to remember to turn the volume down at work before you hit play. We got this for our daughter, actually her grandparents gave it to her, for Christmas. We got her an IPod Nano. It fits into the dock great. Sounds great. This is an awesome portable stereo/speaker system. My video Ipod fits in it perfectly. It's so small but the sound it gives is wonderful for it's size. The bass doesn't even get over modulated very easily. It has it's own carrying case so you can put every single plug it comes with in the bag along with the cables. It's easy to use so you don't even need a manual to figure anything out. This is a well thought out unit, working on AC or DC. It also has different plugs for different countries. The iPod holder slides into a space under the speakers so there is nothing to break off when it's in your suitcase and it comes with a nice traveling pouch to protect it. The sound is good and I am looking forward to having it on our next vacation.
