I purchased this for my husband for Father's Day 2008. He loves it! He uses it outside in the backyard, camping, on vacations, etc. It is a great little system. It charges your ipod and comes with it's own travel bag. He was amazed at the great sound for such a small unit. Great purchase. I bought this speaker system for my wife's ipod nano igb. I don't personally own an ipod and didn't know much about what kind of things you need to make them more enjoyable. As usual amazon made my shopping easy. The sound from these speakers is nothing short of amazing. Altec Lansing made a great product here. The only complaint I would have is that the ipod seems to be slightly loose when conected to the system. This however does not seem to effect the performance at all. I highly recommend this system. I bought these speakers for a cruise I went on not sure about power supply on a cruise ship. (it turned out to be 110 VAC) But the im5 came with everything but a backup generator. It has several adaptors for different voltages as well as battery power (which lasted longer than I expected) and oh yeah, great sound. The only thing missing is a remote. But it is a nice little package and very portable. I'm planning a trip to europe next year and the im5 will be there. Got these speakers based on size, reviews and price. Used them right away and they sounded GREAT! Problem occurred only one week after use. My husband and I traveled out of state and took the speakers. Once we got unpacked we went to play our ipod and the on button flickered on but did not turn on. (must note that the speakers were carried on the plane, not checked). Not sure if it was a short in the power cord or what? Needless to say, the manufacturer is sending us a new one and I really hope we have no problems for I love the speakers!
