The Altec Lansing iM600 is a terrific value for the price at which Amazon is selling it. (I don't work for Amazon--but I am a professional musician and picky about sound reproduction.) Compared to the higher-priced iPod dock players--Bose, etc.--most of which don't have an FM tuner, it comes out on top as best value for money. The sound is astonishingly good from so small a unit, with impressive bass, fat middle range and clean, non-tinny highs. FM reception is very good, and Altec's SFX stereo-effect enhancer really does expand the soundstage. I might wish the remote worked from further away, but that's quibbling. For a good sound away from your regular stereo, this unit is tops.Digital camera Review: A wonderful product!

I purchased this unit because we often spend time in different areas of the house doing things. With the large stereo in the family room it limited us to just being able to have music from the ipod in one spot.
This item is both cordless and corded so no matter where we are we have whatever is on our ipod to listen to.
One thing to note is that it only charges your ipod when it is plugged in and does not charge when in battery mode, the instructions are not very clear about this.
Overall we love this unit. The sound is great and its compact design is wonderful. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for an ipod speaker setup. It costs a few dollars more than most of the other units but I feel it is worth it, you really get what you pay for. I listened to the Bose unit before purchasing but to me there is not a major difference in sound unless you are really tuned into slight variations in music reproduction.
Spend a few more dollars and get this unit over the cheaper one but save your $200 and get the Altec Lansing unit over the Bose.

This is the second unit like this I own one for home one for work. The sound is great for a portable radio and IPod doc. I have had great radio reception and long battery life allowing me to use it inside and outside, to take it to events and camping. Great Product. The battery lasts hours, and the sound is incredible. I would definitely recommend it. The only gripe I have is that the gloss black scratches easily. Other than that it is great.
