Digital camera Review: Altec Lansing does it again
Summary: 4 Stars

After years of happy use from the excellent first version of the InMotion speakers I was finally seduced into upgrading to the im600. I guess what clinched it for me was the much bigger sound and inbuilt FM radio. The remote, rechargable battery and auto-off functions also help - since I was forever leaving my old one on by mistake..

It should be noted that it's a completely different product from the early versions, in being considerably bigger and heavier and therefore targeted somewhere inbetween travel and home portable use. That's fine for me since I can still choose to take the miniature version if I'm travelling really light. The great thing about the im600 is that it sounds good enough to also use around the home and garden.

It's a fantastic product and has been brilliantly thought out on every level. The design is superb and looks great with a black iPod, though I'm not sure would work so well with the white version.
The only small improvement I can think of is that it should be supplied with a multi-socket transformer such as some of the earlier generation InMotion speakers were.

Still, highly recommended!

Wow! I love it. Sent back my Logitech MM-32 to WalMart, did some extensive research, and for the buck, I truly feel I came out way ahead.
I tried to stay in the $50-$60 dollar range, but would waste $$ on batteries in no time. So I feel spending $100 here would give great sound enjoyment and be a better investment. A win win position. I HATE buying batteries.
Pros...FM Radio, rechargable 7hr battery built in, great sound, very stylish and as portable as you desire. The remote is good with 4 FM presets, and works my iPod 60 GB Photo skipping fwd and back unlike some other reviews, it navigates my iPod just fine within a playlist.
Cons...Tuner doesn't pick up some stations my alarm clock does, stations I want, and I live on a hill. Also I'd like to see Altec Lansing use a longer lifed battery. Let's see a travel case too!
The remote needs velcro to keep it close. It slips easily, uses a button battery, but works fine. Don't forget to remove clear protective cover from transmitter eye. It will diminish usuable distance.
I like it and am quite the picky one.

Absolutely love it! Great sound when playing from my iPod as well as great reception when I'm listening to the radio. It's so lightweight, slim and easy to move from room to room. Wish I had bought it sooner.

After reading many positive customer reviews about this unit, I placed an order for one. Being on the West Coast, I assumed it would take 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to receive it. I was pleasantly surprised to have it in hand within 6 days! I've used the iM600 for about a month now and I totally agree with the majority. It could use a bit more bass, but for it's size and price, the sound quality is outstanding. The sound quality is best when using the SFX mode. When playing it indoors, there are no issues. However, when outdoors, I notice some distortion with the volume "cranked up." But, it's no more than what one would expect for a unit this size. The battery life is really good. I get over 4 hours of continuous use on a fully charged battery. I wouldn't hesitate at all to buy another.

Good product for the price. Rich, full sound in a relatively compact size. The four hour battery life is handy when you're not exactly near an outlet. One flaw is that the remote did not come with a battery and none of the paperwork, either shipped or online, has any reference to what battery to buy (one of those flat, round deals). Customer service at Altec is none existent, so I plan to buy four or five that look like they might fit and see what happens.
