Digital camera Review: TERRIBLE!! AN ABSOLUTE JOKE!!!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

Whoever wrote a good review about these headphones works for Altec Lansing and is trying to rip you off!!!
I am blown away by how bad these are. It is laughable - They are going straight in the trash. The free headphones you get with an i-pod etc are WAY better!! Trust me!
My poor wife thought she was getting me a nice christmas present and all she got was junk. Thanks a bunch Altec & Amazon!

Digital camera Review: These earphones are awful.
Summary: 1 Stars

Do not buy these earphones for an iPod.

1. Way, way over-priced.
2. Sound is very tinny. Bass is nonexistent.
3. Clog up with ear wax and you have to buy another pair (see #1).

I have a pair of free earphones from Jet Blue that sound better, honestly. Those free ear phones had better bass and I didn't have to turn my volume up to MAX to hear the song. I am going to return these for a refund. They are an awful waste of money.

I think the people who wrote positive reviews for these earphones either used them for something other than a mobile electronic device, they work for Altec or they are very, very high.

Digital camera Review: These headphones changed my listening life!
Summary: 5 Stars

These headphones are amazing, although they are interestingly hard to correctly insert into your ears, but once you learn how they are freaking amazing. You can ACTUALLY HEAR THE GUITARIST'S FINGERS ON THE GUITAR! Simple drum beats in rap music sound like you are standing 3 meters away from the drummer. It was so weird to listen to my music again, cause I felt like I was in the room with them. Really, I truly like these headphones. The only problem I have with them is that you MUST get a good seal on your ears to effectively use them to there full potential as some of the other reviews show. Those reviewers that don't like them describe a sound quality that you get if you don't seal them in your ears. The sound is tinny and gross, until you seal them. Overall, amazing fidelity and clarity, and I work at a very, very highend home theatre store($30,000+ systems) called National Audio Video and these easily stand up to headphones three times the price. Very happy with them.

Digital camera Review: They're okay, but...
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought these as a phones for my iPod to use at the gym. I was looking for a phone that would stay in my ear during exercise, and that would block out distracting sounds around me at the gym.

These are not bad, on both counts. The sound quality is at the upper end of medocre. They're not what I would call "audiophile quality" phones. I also have a pair of Shure E4c, which, while more expensive, provide much superior sound quality, and superior sound isolation.

Why did I give them only one star? It's because over time, under what I'd consider pretty normal use, the insulation on the wire is beginning to crack. Pretty poor product integrity, and certainly not to be expected with a set of phones at this price!

The Lansing is reasonably comfortable, but it does take some getting used to any phone that fits inside the ear canal. They come with a volume/tone adjustment gadget attached to the wire, which I don't believe is worth its weight. In fact, I can't see any real, practical value to this added feature at all. It's more convenient to adjust the volume at the iPod than to fool with this weighty thing that's pulling on your ears. There is a clip that can be used to afix it to your clothing, but I still find it awkward, and even clipped to a collar, clumsy to use.

These phones come with a storage fob that is large, cumbersome, and bulky. It pivots open and closed. You stash the phones and control in a circular storage area, wind the wire around the spindle, and close it. It's bigger than my iPod.

All in all, I think these are decent phones. But when you're paying nearly a hundred bucks, I think that you SHOULD be getting something special. These are, well, just okay, despite some big drawbacks, namely the inferior, non-durable wire, the heavy (and not very useful) volume control, and the clumsy carrying case.

As with any sound isolating phone, they should NOT be used where you might encounter a dangerous situation, like driving, cycling, etc., where you need to hear sounds around you for your safety.

Digital camera Review: Took getting used to...now LOVIN' it
Summary: 5 Stars

When I first got the headphones, I was frustrated...they seemed quiet...not much bass...didn't sound that great.

What I've read in other reviews is very true. Having them seated in your ear properly makes ALL the difference! I don't normally like things inside my ears, but I pushed it in farther and made them seat right...and now...VERY nice. Not as loud as my other pairs of headphones...but they don't need to be. They also cut out like 25-35db of outside noise...which means you don't need as much volume. I've actually used these on plane trips just to cut out noise even though I wasn't listening to music at the time.

I hope you enjoy them as I do.
