Digital camera reviews of Aluratek AIRMM01F Internet Radio Alarm Clock with built-in WiFi (Black)Digital camera Review: A great Internet Radio Summary: 4 Stars
It was very easy to set up, had it up and running in less than 15 minutes.
I was able to receive all the stations I wanted to listen to. Also able to
access the MP3 files on my computer via windows media player 11. All the radio functions worked as the manufactured indicated. I highly recommend
this Internet radio alarm clock with built-in WiFi.
Digital camera Review: A new world of radio Summary: 4 Stars
Internet radio is like combining shortwave radio (but with much higher sound quality) with a huge choice of local stations from around the world. I have lived in numerous places in my life, and this radio has allowed me to reconnect with many of the radio stations I used to enjoy as well as stations from around the world (e.g., BBC, CBC Canada, ABC Australia, Radio Netherlands etc etc).
The Aluratek took a little while to set up - it wasn't easy entering the long encryption code, but since then has worked great. Sound quality through its speaker is somewhat better than a typical clock radio, but not what you would get through even a low end audio system. But after I connected it though the rear connectors to my sound system, the quality of the sound was only limited by the quality of the stream. Some stations sound about as well as an FM broadcast and some better.
I'm sure the Grace or the Squeezebox sound better than the Aluratek with their own speakers, but if you don't care about hi-fidelity sound, or want to connect it up to your audio system, there is no reason to pay more.
Digital camera Review: A poor alarm, a noisy radio Summary: 2 Stars
Those who want a portable sound source to play BBC1 or WFMU etc. anywhere near a wireless access point may be satisfied, but I cannot recommend it. The menus are slow and not particularly attractive, but they work. I am willing to forgive shortcomings in the interface as my hope was to set it up as a daily bedside alarm once, then forget about it.
The amplifier (after the internet tuner and DA converter in the signal chain) is noisy with blips of static, and never turns off. For loud music this is of little import, but for classical or talk radio very unpleasant. Worse, these white-noise interjections occur, though at lower volume, while the audio is "off", 2 feet from my sleeping head.
Digital camera Review: A prayer answered Summary: 5 Stars
I live in a radio wasteland. 1 NPR station (which is great) and 2 Classical stations. This fine little fellow has enabled me to cast off the shackles of
opinionated onesided nicompoops and find solace in net space.
It goes everywhere and I love it.
It's bit dicey to get a handle on operation but once done it makes sense. You will need a wireless router for optimum performance.
It's screen is a "blue" that hurts my eyes when searching.
Now I can go to sleep listening to "Lights Out" or New York news.

Digital camera Review: AIRMM01F is a good alarm clock radio. Summary: 4 Stars
I have the AIRMM01F radio and I have to agree with some reviewers. This product is well worth the money - excellent sound, connectivity, external antenna can catch even the weakest signal, an amazing addition is an actual WiFi Access point...BUT an incredibly awkward station Menu in the "firmware" is annoying. The radio wouldve been superb if there were at least 4 Preset Buttons! but there are none. That means if you move to a different station of the world and want to go back to the previous - there is NO WAY except to go through: AllStations->Location->France->Genre->News->Radio France Internacional| The Alarm feature is solid and allows you to set the volume so the News station doesnt blast you in the morning after whole day of listening to Techno.
