Digital camera reviews of Aluratek AIRMM01F Internet Radio Alarm Clock with built-in WiFi (Black)

Digital camera Review: Beware of Format problems
Summary: 1 Stars

Actually, we like the clock, after learning its quirks. But if a station streams using Apple's ACC format or Adobe Flash format (and many are going that direction) you are out of luck.

Digital camera Review: Can't get it fixed
Summary: 3 Stars

When I initially received the unit it worked just fine. It is a bit unusual to dig through the menus to make what most of us think of as a simple appliance work as desired, but when there are many features, the user interface becomes more complex. So be it.

However, without warning, this unit decided that the radio could not be turned on via the clock alarm setting. Instead of playing the radio station, it plays some little tune stored in it. If I select a station manually, it plays that station. But if I program that station into the alarm function, it tries to start the "radio", then jumps back to the clock and plays the stored tune. I have called the manufacturer rep in California, they asked me to update the firmware, which I did, and it still won't work properly. The customer support people will not resolve the issues after three times on the phone. So I really can't reward them with any more business until they clear this problem by either providing me with a solution or replacing the unit. Too bad, because other than that I can't get this problem resolved it's a nice product.

I do agree with the comment about using the remote for secure WEP access. If you loose the remote and you run a secure WiFi connection, you'd better find an Ethernet cable to connect to your network, otherwise you now have a brick with lights instead of a clock radio.

Digital camera Review: Can't keep a wifi connection
Summary: 1 Stars

Similar to the reviewer of January 1, 2011, we've owned this since Christmas and have only been able to use it for a couple of hours. It shuts on and off in mid broadcast. More frustrating, when turning it on, it often can't connect or won't recognize the network and when it does, I have to repeatedly re-enter our network security key. It will work in the room with the router but moving it to the kitchen or bedroom and it loses it's connection. I thought maybe it was our wireless router but just this week I purchased a new "n" router, which works great with the laptops and other wireless devices in our house and has a strong signal. Even with the new router, it says it can't connect to the network. After several tries, it might connect, then I have to reenter the password and it still takes a long time to load the radio station. Once it gets working, it works for a few minutes and then the station goes in and out. I'm sure I'm past my time to return it but I would if I could! Even my 7 year old son, who got it for Christmas, has asked to return it.

Digital camera Review: Can't say enough about this!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Just received my radio about 3 hours ago and can't quit playing with it. Like a kid with a new toy. Unpacked it, looked at the quick set up guide, and in less than 5 minutes it was getting all sorts internet stations. There are so manny other features but am having too much fun with the Internet portion, not sure when I will get to the other features.
I had looked at about all the offers on WiFi radios but I am sure glad I choose the Aluratek.

Digital camera Review: Chunk your alarm clock
Summary: 5 Stars

Time to come out of the dark ages and get one of these. Nice features and the world at your feet with regard to global radio content. You will like it.
