Digital camera reviews of Amazon Kindle DX Black Leather Cover (Fits 9.7" Display, Latest and 2nd Generation Kindles)Digital camera Review: An awesome addition to my Kindle DX!! Summary: 5 Stars
The leather cover for the Kindle DX is well worth the money! It protects the kindle when you are not using it, and looks great too! I would recommend that anyone buying a Kindle DX spend the few extra dollars and get the leather cover for it.
Digital camera Review: An improvement, but more needed. Summary: 3 Stars
I am a long time Kindle user and this cover is much better than the one that was included with the first generation Kindle. Still, it needs some velcro on the inside of the back cover to prevent it from flopping around. Also, I found it a bit heavy and thick for reading in bed at night, and got into the habit of always taking it off before reading. As a result, I bought a Timbuk2 nylon Kindle sleeve and like it much better. I gave this cover to one of my daughters and she's pleased to have it on her Kindle.
Digital camera Review: As Advertised Summary: 5 Stars
The cover for the Kindle was as advertised. It was easy to install and seems to protect the Kindle just fine. For the price, I think it is a good buy.
Digital camera Review: Attaching to Kindle Summary: 2 Stars
It is absolutely a terror to attach the Kindle to the cover or remove it from such. Especially scary as you sent out a e-mail telling how you could break the Kindle if you were not carefull. It is sure not worth the price you charged me.
Digital camera Review: Average rating for an average cover Summary: 3 Stars
It is unfortunate that Amazon, after putting in so much time and effort into making the Kindle a positive user experience, would allow their name to go on a cover that shows no thought to user ergonomics.
1) It's a cover. No more, no less.
2) It is relatively heavy. In this sense, it negates one of the Kindle DX's strong selling points - its ease of handling. I mention the weight of the cover only because it becomes a factor when you try to read the Kindle. It exacerbates the problems I mention below.
3) They should have put in a pocket or two on the inside.
4) It does not appear that thought was given to how we would hold the book while reading. It folds back fairly flat, but it does not latch in any way so it can flop open.
5) They should have put a strap on it that you can slide your hand into to support the book while reading.
Swing and a miss.
