I had to replace the original adaptor and plug (they come as a 2 part set only) after the (tiny) plug part was lost in a suitcase on a trip. First I went to Radio Shack and they sold me a replacement it is not compatible with the Kindle. I ordered the replacement was which sent promptly. After re-charging, I left the plug part in the wall and was once again unable to charge the Kindle while on a trip! Fortunately, the plug part was right there in the wall when I returned. Much more compact and easy to travel than the original Kindle power cord. I only wish it had a standard USB connector so that it would be more universal to other electronics that I normally carry with me when I travel.
