Digital camera Review: A Nicely-Made All-Purpose Carrying Case

It's somewhat difficult to wax enthusiastic or even think about something simple and utilitarian like this - until you need one! Normally, when you realize that you could really use a small carrying case, what do you do? If you're like me, you run off to the "Dollar Store" where, if you're lucky, you'll find something which MAY last a few months (if that).
This AmazonBasics Quilted Case for Small Electronics Including Cameras, Mobile Phones, GPS Units (Black) [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] may cost somewhat more than what you'll find at the "Dollar Store" but, as far as I can determine, it will greatly outlast anything you'll find there. In my opinion it represents good value for money, certainly far better value that those "Dollar Store" items. (It even comes with a one-year warranty!) It is what I'll be using from now on.
It is nicely made, nicely padded, has a useful draw-string, and has a small cut-out at the top which allows easy access to any tightly fitting item carried. It has a detachable belt-clip. Someone wrote that it is "not attractive looking." I say, "who cares?" It's attractive enough for what it is - you won't be embarrassed if you're seen carrying it! Its form follows its function and I think that that is sufficient.
How large is it? Contrary to one other review, it does indeed hold a Garmin nüvi 285W/285WT 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic quite easily (with some room to spare). But I am not using it for that purpose; currently, I am storing my Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket AM/FM Radio, Silver which *JUST* fits. (This radio did not come with a case.) And that cut-out I mentioned makes it easy to retrieve the radio.
Of course you can use it for anything you like - cell phone, small camera, small toys for a baby, your keys, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum, and my use of it is subject to change. (No one says you have to use it for one thing only! - And at its low price, anyone can afford more than one.)
A bonus is AmazonBasic's "frustration-free" packaging. Though you DO need an implement to open it, an ordinary letter-opener, a pocket or kitchen knife, or even the edge of a coin is all you need. (IF you have sharp fingernails - I do not - that may work too!) In any case, this packaging is FAR superior to the usual plastic wrapping which requires heavy-duty scissors, much muscle, and a LOT of language which should not be heard in polite company.
The five-star rating I give to this item is in view of its intended purposes. For those purposes, I highly recommend this product. Buy a few pending the time you need one.

I like this case so much that I took my own advice and bought a couple more, one for current use, the other as a spare. They arrived today. You just can't go wrong with this very well-made case.
For whatever it's worth, I REALLY like AmazonBasics products. All the ones I have purchased are, in my opinion, well-made, fairly priced, and offer very good value for money.
