This is a nice radio and works pretty well but lacks the one basic function it was purchased for. It has no alert function to turn on and broadcast emergency warnings! This item should be a requirement to those that live in areas of rough weather. I live in a rural area that is prone to power outages. We recently had what was called an inland hurricane. The area was power less for several weeks. At the time I did not have the Red Cross product. I went through 8 boxes of candles and several dozen batteries of various sizes in an effort to see during the night. After we regained power, the first thing I did was to purchase this device. It is solar powered or hand cranked. I wish I had it earlier. What a great thing to have.
