Digital camera reviews of American Red Cross FR150 Microlink Solar-Powered, Self-Powered AM/FM/Weatherband Portable Radio with Flashlight and Cell Phone Charger (Red)

Digital camera Review: Love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

Smaller than I expected. You can fill out a form and provide them with your cell phone model and they'll mail you the correct charger adapter. I haven't had to wind it once, the solar panel doesn't need direct sunlight, in the shade it works great! $30 is a steal!

Digital camera Review: Love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter got this for her daddy for Christmas. It is made pretty well. Like others have said it is small. But it works great for an emergency kit. We use the flashlight option quite a bit. Especially when we can't find the battery operated one. The radio works quite well. We used it in the country and also when we got back to the city. So the reception was pretty got in both areas. I'm thinking of buying one of the larger ones. Because I like this so much.

Digital camera Review: Neet little package! (Update 11 Dec 08)
Summary: 4 Stars

Update: 11 Dec 08,
I've now been using this radio off and on since Aug 08. Still going strong. Cell phone battery charger adapter showed up about 60 days after filling out card and sending in. For those complaining about not finding the adapter, Read the directions, follow them, then receive the adapter in the mail a few weeks later. When I work outside of my house, or in the basement, or just need some simple background music, I use this little guy, it's easy to carry around the house. It's never run out of power. I keep it in a window so it is always charging. My only complaint now is I wish I had bought more when they were on sale.

Well, I finally took the plunge and bought one of these little critters.
Overall, this radio fits the bill for my semi-emergency needs, I don't need the cell phone power option, and the built in flashlight is cool, but you should have a better flashlight in your emergency kit or bug out bag. I'm able to receive three NOAA stations, which is nice. The AM and FM bands work well and come in crystal clear. My only complaint is a minor one, but, I wish there was the option for commercial battery power. That one added option would have taken care of just about any power need. Regardless, this is a cool little radio. If you can snag one on sale, then get it. If you don't like it, then you are not out of too much money.

Digital camera Review: Nice radio
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall this is a very good product that does what it's designed to do, the crank is easy to turn and the flashlight is bright, I wish I had it when the power failed in the hotel in Aruba last year. The radio receives AM/FM and Weather stations well, but I am in a major metropolitan area how it performs in a rural area I can't say. The only negative I can find is a lack of information on the output of the "cell phone charger" and how to get jacks to adapt to it.

Digital camera Review: Nice weather radio
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a nice AM/FM/weather radio with flashlight. Crank it for a minute or two to charge the battery and you get good reception and performance. It gets better FM reception than my large plug-in radio, and perfect reception on the weather band. The flashlight is strong too.

I've only had it for a month, so I can't comment on longevity, but it seems well built and durable.
