I was amazed how quickly the item arrived. It was in the original box with all the bells and whistles like stated by the seller. As far as the product goes... I'm very pleased. It functions great, doesn't overheat, and the design is sleek which mathchs my laptop perfectly. So, I got this enclosure for my 1 TB hard drive from my old computer when I bought it since I already had two hard drives in the new one. I figured making my old hard drive an external would make things a bit easier to manage.
I was wrong.
I've had external hard drives before. They are simple to use, very little software if any is required, and they are very mobile and durable, with no moving pieces that can crash together or break apart. I thought that getting an enclosure would be very similar, and it may be, just not with this enclosure.
First, it says that it only operates with Windows 98...an OS that is over 10 years old! Then, it doesn't even recognize my hard drive. Better yet, I found that I had to hold the power switch in the back about halfway between on and off for it to actually stay on! What is up with that? To use this thing I would have to hold that switch perfectly still for the entire time? No thanks.
In short, use the money you might "save" by buying this enclosure and use it for a real external hard drive, or an enclosure that is actually supported on something more recent than a decade-old OS, and works when you get it.

I've owned another 3.5 external hard drive enclosure that was plastic resulting in warped screws = I'll never get that 320GB out again. But this Antec 3.5'' is perfect. Not only does it look great but it functions exactly like you think it should. I have a WD 1TB Green drive in it at the moment. The hard drive runs very cool. The build is very solid and the white HD activity light is bright but not too bright (a good thing). Just have a super small + screw driver handy because the screws are super small. I work for a law firm and recently had a Lawyer accidentally drop a external hard drive and ruin the circuit board with the usb and ac adapter. I took it apart, removed the 3.5" drive and purchased this. The installation took 5 minutes. It worked perfectly, and the attorney recovered his data.
I could not ask for a simpler solution.
