Digital camera reviews of Antec MX-100 3.5-Inch USB Aluminum Enclosure for SATA Hard Drive

Digital camera Review: Great SATA HD Enclosure - Highly Recommended
Summary: 5 Stars

The Antec MX-100 3.5" USB Aluminum Enclosure for SATA Hard Drives does exactly what it is supposed to do, convert a SATA Hard Drive to a USB connected external Hard Drive.

The unit ships with the case, a stand, screws, instructions, disc (didn't use), power supply, and USB cable. The installation of my Segate 750gb SATA Hard Drive into the case couldn't have been any easier, litteraly taking about 5 minutes start to finish.

This is a solid case and it looks great. Highly Recommended!

Digital camera Review: Great box, cool and quiet!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this box to house a Western Digital 250gb drive that crashed and had to be recovered. The drive was easy to install, and with all of the work I gave it (48+hrs straight), it kept cool and quiet. For the price, you can't beat it!!

Digital camera Review: Great little enclosure
Summary: 5 Stars

Not much to say: It's another quality Antec device, quiet even when the drive is being accessed, stable, indicator light is bright but not over the top and it looks good enough to leave it out where it can be seen. My only word of caution for others is if you are looking for a quick-swap enclosure this is not the one for you. It's not difficult but I can certainly see getting a bit annoyed if I had to install/swap drives often.

Digital camera Review: Great product with a few shortcomings
Summary: 4 Stars

The enclosure looks amazing and the installation was very quick and easy. The enclosed CD is only for Windows 98 computers (for anyone who still has one???) Since it is a fanless enclosure, it does get quite warm to the touch, but nothing too drastic. I was moving hundreds of GBs of files from my old external to the other, basically a few hours of continuous running, and there were no problems with the hard drive. Also, the power cord is a lot shorter than I would like. It hasn't caused any problems yet, but you may want to look into getting a longer power supply/cord.

Digital camera Review: HOT!!!! I Mean Really Really HOT!!!!
Summary: 3 Stars

This thing is a great value, but dang it runs hot.

I put a 1T Hitachi drive in it, it couldn't be easier to set up.

I usually leave my external drives on all the time, but I'm afraid if I do so with this one it'll burst into flames, some air vents would have been nice.
