Digital camera reviews of Antec USB-Powered Notebook CoolerDigital camera Review: (2010 UPDATE) Works great to keep my Dell 17" widescreen laptop cool Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this for $14.99 a month or so ago and couldn't be happier. I was looking at these for a while and when the price dropped, I had to grab one. It is very quiet, even on the high speed setting and the blue light is not annoying to me because my Dell 17" widescreen laptop hangs over an inch or two on each side, so it blocks most of the light.
UPDATE: It's still working, although last year the power connection started getting loose, so the led/fans only kick on when I put the cord tight towards the front of the cooler.
I also took it apart a few months ago and cleaned it out ( you have to pull off the rubber nubbins on the bottom to access the screws, it wasn't too dirty, but cleaning it made it a little more efficient and definitely quieter.

This cooler does it job, I noticed a significant difference in the warmth of my laptop. It's blue light doesn't really bother me, and the sound of the fans are tolerable. However, after a few months of use, I find that the power cord doesn't work too well. The cord has to be pressed a certain way for it to stay on. VERY ANNOYING. Especially since I can't really tell whether it is on, with my laptop humming as well. Then the laptop overheats and crashes.
Digital camera Review: 15.4' Toshiba=>Fan-On-base Summary: 3 Stars
My Toshiba is almost 2years old now and i recently installed Win7. However, with the temp hitting 70F and my own laptop hitting 80+ I desperately needed something to cool it down. After a lot of reviews I purchased this hoping for the best.
Unfortunately, with the fan on the bottom, this cooling isn't as effective as I hoped it would be. I keep a laptop a little off the pad so that the fan is outside the pad. This ensures that the pad is blowing air on the rest of the base. Surprisingly, this seemed to work better than the laptop fan being almost directly over the pad fan.
Also, the feet of the pad aren't very comfortable when you place it on your lap. I sit in shorts and the pad seems to bite into the skin, really wish they had had softer feet.
Set-up was easy. The pad has 2 speed settings, Low and High-- at low its barely noticeable and at high there is a certain buzz that you can't miss but one that doesn't annoy you either.
Not sure if i'll continue with this or pass it on to my sister who has an HP and does not have a fan at the bottom.
Digital camera Review: 2nd time purchaser - it does the job cheaply Summary: 4 Stars
I used this same model for about 1.5yrs before the fan died.
It does have a ridiculously bright blue power indicator light just as others have reported, but you can cover that and the unit makes a huge difference in keeping my lap and the computer much cooler, so I had no reservations in buying the same model again. I managed to find this on sale for $14 just when I needed a new one, so I bought it.
For some reason the new one has an issue with the little rubber stubs that hold the laptop a centimeter or so above the cooler's surface - those stubs tend to fall out while moving the laptop around. You can put it back in (if you can find it), but its not enough of an issue were I felt the need to return the product or look for something else.
It keeps your lap cool;
Extends the life of your laptop;
Inexpensive.
I recommend it.

This is the second time I'm purchasing Antec USB-Powered Notebook Cooler. The USB cooler works great especially if you're working long hours on the laptop. Although, it does take up one USB slot. So you might have to consider buying a USB-Hub if you have multiple devices already connected.
The only real problem with this one is that after about 7-8 months of use there may be loose-contact at the wire and you might have to make some adjustments, like taping the wire, to make the cooler work.
