Digital camera reviews of Apc Surge Protector + Battery Backup 325VA 120V LamDigital camera Review: Small Unit for Small Backup Needs Summary: 4 Stars
This battery backup is small, light and has a lot of value for the money. It is the least expensive battery back-up I have seen from a big name in power proection, APC and is ideal for smaller items that draw ver low power, such as cell phones, mice, perhaps routers or cable modems.
Pros:
- Great price and value for only around $40
- Small size, fits anywhere
- Has phone line protection (including use with DSL)
- Has 6' power cord
- Includes $50,000 lifetime equipment protection policy
Cons:
- Run time is only 1 minute with a full load, but 8.1 minutes with a half load
- Only 320 joules of protection
Living in Florida and already having been through more than a dozen of power outages I have found this item to be reliable without any issues and for not much more than a regular surge protector, you can't go wrong.
Digital camera Review: Unimpressive quality Summary: 2 Stars
The unit I bought failed just out of warranty. Unimpressive reliability for something with no moving parts. Also the two outlets for battery backup are not far enough apart to accommodate any two plugs. The unit did work for the occasional power outage, but for the price I'm looking for higher quality this time around.
Digital camera Review: Used one for 3 years. Summary: 5 Stars
This was great for the price.
I've used this model for 3 years and it's done it's job well. It's saved my butt during power outages and random blackouts many times. If I didn't have this thing my computer would of turned off and I would have lost hours of valuable work, (1-2 second power outages are very common in Central, FL)
GUYS, this model is one of the smallest, it's sad to see people giving this product a bad rating and complaining about "only 3 outlets for battery backup", and "the wattage supported is lower", and "it's only good for very small offices"... Well, yeah. It's a tiny cheap model, that's the point. Plug in ONLY your computer, monitor, and alarm clock into the battery backup outlets (3) and use the other 3 for JUST surge protection. (note, all 6 outlets include surge protection) As soon as the power goes out, the unit will start beeping, save your work and shut down immediately as you only have 7-11 minutes of battery power, If you'd like more, then buy a $150-$300 APC unit or get a laptop.
For a small office, nothing beats the price.
After 3 years the batteries go dead (with all APC units) and it's time to get a new one or a replacement battery. Just take the old battery to Walmart, it's a lead acid battery (same ones as cars).
Digital camera Review: click click click Summary: 2 Stars
My APC unit went bad after the first power loss. Battery back up plugs became useless and the unit began making clicking noises at times. It still serves as a surge protector (I think) but battery function can't be used and noise from the unit is annoying. I'd look at other brands.
Digital camera Review: lousy product Summary: 1 Stars
Our surge protector died one month and one week after we purchased it--one week over the time given to return it. Now we have to buy a new one after already wasting money on this one. Thanks for nothing. Best Buy, here I come.
