I tried older routers, B and G, both set ups were a pain. Speeds were slow.No connects all the time. The airport delivers the 1.5 mb speeds of my dsl to the IPHONE. Worked the first time, no restarts for one month. IPHONE data reduced to under 200 MB use per month.

While I've had a home network before, I've never had to be involved with any of the technical matters, I had a computer scientist do that. This was the first time that I needed a home network and I had to do it on my own. Also, I had just purchased my first Mac (which I LOVE!!) and I still had a older Toshiba laptop that I needed to make sure could also get on the network. After reading some information online I got the impression that the AirPort Extreme might be the best way to go. I have no regrets about my purchase. It was so easy to setup and it is easy to use. Both my Mac and my Toshiba work fine on it. So if you are a user like myself, tech savvy but not directly experienced, you should really check it out. And while I don't know to what extent my router could affect my network speed, I have not noticed any compromise in speed since going to the AirPort.Digital camera Review: Amazing!

All I can say is that I was skeptical and almost opted for the Netgear dual band instead. Glad I didn't. This literally took 5 minutes to setup. I now have both a personal and guest network in less than 5 minutes. Nice job Apple!
