Digital camera reviews of Apple Bluetooth Wireless Mighty Mouse

Digital camera Review: Awesome mouse.
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great mouse for your mac. The battery life is beyond great, it syncs fast right on start up and is very comfortable to use. The scroll ball also works great with very sharp precision. I laugh when I see uneducated reviewers posting things like "Great if I could right click" this statement makes them look dumb to anyone who is computer literate. All you do on any mac to enable right click is go to system preferences and click mouse then select whatever you wish for the mouse buttons. Button one is primary, then set second button to secondary and wow magic you have right click, plus you can customize it however you want. This is a great mouse, very crisp controls and very durable, I would recommend it to anyone, plus it looks sharp with any mac.

Digital camera Review: Beautiful look and feel, but falls short
Summary: 2 Stars

Pros: As all Mighty Mouse's I have used in the past - Laser tracking is spot on - no adjustment needed. Especially great for creative people who work hours in Illustrator and Photoshop. And of course, it is beautiful and very comfortable to have in hand hour after hour.

Cons: 1) Wireless MM is pretty heavy compared to it's wired relative, and even other wireless mice. The weight is hard to get used to, and will slide if operating on a tilted surface (such as a couch). 2) Scrolling bead is prone to collecting dirt, and therefore can die out quicker than most wheels. 3) Has a very sensitive build. It dropped on my carpet floor, and the device stopped working. Partly my fault, but realized this sensitive gadget can't withstand a little bumping here and there. Apple let me return it after the 30 days, and I ended up exchanging for the Logitech V470 Wireless Mouse.

Overall, if you like the ergonomics and operation of the Mighty Mouse and can deal with a cord - I'd stick with the wired version.

Digital camera Review: Best mouse ever
Summary: 5 Stars

I wasn't sure about buying this becasue I had read several reviews saying that the buttons don't register the left/right click very well and that the scroll button breaks within days. I have had mine for over a month and I love it. The person who said they had to lift their finder to get the buttons to register must be pushing down on the mouse really hard because the buttons work just like a normal mouse only they are located in the botton instead of the top. The 360 scroll button is amazing - but again I don't mash down hard on it. If you have very large hands it might not be comfortable but I find it perfect. I turn it on before my computer and it is always synched up by the time the computer is ready. It can take a while to synch up automatically if you turn it on after the computer is already booted up, but I have found it faster and easier to simply manually make the computer synch up with it - it just takes a few seconds. This mouse is very sersatile in that the buttons are completely customizable, it can even be configured for left handed people which I thought was really cool. I would totally recommend this mouse!

Digital camera Review: Best mouse ever, especially for a mac laptop
Summary: 5 Stars

This is hands down the best mouse of all time -- the best pointing device of any kind of all time. The next best mouse you've ever used is an 8.0/10 -- this one's a 9.9/10. For readers who have experience with both a TiVo and a TiVo competitor, that's a suitable parallel. Yes, all the basic features are there in the non-TiVo and you can use it and you might never even notice it had any design flaws -- until you switch to the TiVo, and you realize just how much of a major difference those minor details make. I will never switch away from this mouse.

Some of the details that really make the difference:
1. Flawless performance (rare for wireless devices, and I've tried many)
2. No dongle, due to built in bluetooth on Mac (makes a huge difference for a portable machine)
3. 2D window scrolling! No other mouse has it (except the wired version of this mouse)
4. Pre-programmed to work great with Expose and Dashboard -- very helpful
5. Off switch!! So many "portable" mice lack this no-brainer feature
6. No charger + long battery life!! Other "portable" mice aren't due to the charger

With any Mac, this is the best mouse. Wired mice eventually get tangled up. Roller ball mice get gummed up and become worthless. Other wireless mice experience dropouts. Most mice have tons of buttons that you can program but you never do. This mouse works perfectly every time and simply gets out of your way to let you do your work (a hallmark of Apple design in general). Your buttons are there but are not overwhelming, and they're pre-programmed to the right things on your Mac right out of the box. 2D window scrolling means you're spending less time switching between mouse and keyboard. I'm a right-hander, but for left-handers, there are zero ergonomic issues.

With a Mac laptop, this mouse shines brilliantly. I use a laptop as my primary machine, which works very well -- all my files are always there, no matter where I go, I don't have to hassle with networks at work or home. But I do need the option of a mouse, because no pointing device built in to any laptop of any brand is as efficient as using an external mouse. Wired mice or mice with dongles add friction to your experience so you often just end up not bothering to set them up, rendering them effectively useless. "Travel" mice suck, they're too small to be used comfortably or correctly, eliminating the point of even bothering. But most full-sized mice either (a) don't have an off switch or (b) require a charger or (c) require a dongle or (d) experience wireless dropouts or other performance problems or (e) have pathetic battery life. None of these problems plauge this mouse. If I haven't convinced you yet that this mouse has tiny details which make big differences, consider this: not only does this mouse have an off-switch, but the off-switch covers the laser optics in the off position, making it safe to just turn it off and throw it in your bag (no lint or scratching). Trivial? You bet. But when something takes 3 seconds to setup or tear down, you'll use it, but if it takes 30 seconds, you'll use the laptop trackpad, making your other external mouse completely worthless.

Try it for a week, you'll never go back.

Digital camera Review: Better than Logitech V270 on Windows XP
Summary: 5 Stars

First of all, I use a Dell notebook with Windows XP not Mac OS. I have been using a Logitech V270, which I like, for about two years. My wife has a Macbook Pro and the Mighty Mouse, both of which I liked a lot. :) But I cannot have the Macbook Pro because of some software need. A few days ago, I found that I can connect the Mighty Mouse to my notebook (Dell Latitude D620) and have all functions the V270 has. So today I got my own Mighty Mouse.

V270 was a good mouse for its time, but the Mighty Mouse is significantly better:

1. The Mighty Mouse is much more accurate than the V270. The difference is very obvious -- with the V270 I may mis-click on right-click menu items. Sometimes I prefer to use my old Logitech wired optical mouse for its accuracy. The Mighty Mouse, however, is as accurate as a wired optical mouse if not better.

2. The Mighty Mouse is lighter than V270. The V270 is heavier without the batteries (as I feel); and it requires two AA batteries while the mighty mouse only needs one (though can use two).

I do find that Apple provides Lithium AA batteries with the Mighty Mouse. What a wise choice. I feel that a Lithium AA battery is only half the weight of an Alkaline battery.

3. I like the shape of the Mighty Mouse. It is wide and flat, while the V270 is narrower and higher. It just feels better with the Mighty Mouse's shape (but this is very personal).

I noticed that right click of the Mighty Mouse is not as decisive as the V270, which is understandable because the Mighty Mouse has no left or right click buttons. I got used to it after a while.

The left and right side buttons may work differently on Windows XP, but that I am not sure and it doesn't matter in my use.
