Digital camera reviews of Apple MA711LL/A TV with 40GB Hard Drive [OLD VERSION]

Digital camera Review: Definitely the wave of the future
Summary: 4 Stars

I've owned Apple TV for several months. For the most part, I absolutely love it.

Upside:
Great quality, especially HD
No more discs
HDMI
Digital Copy now appears on a lot of DVD's and Blu Ray
Endless entertainment through the Apple Store
With a fast connection, even HD video is near instant-on

Downside:
Like most of the cutting-edge technology, there are glitches.
It sometimes crashes.
Sometimes its a little slow.
A real pain to bring in DVD's due to copy protection
Pricey movies and television.

Digital camera Review: Delightful Addition to my iTunes Products
Summary: 5 Stars

First of all, the 40Gig version was annoying primarily because of the small hard drive. I purchased the 160Gig and am delighted with that.

The AppleTV runs VERY Hot. Plan to put it on TOP of your last device as it needs to have the top open to air. I'm wondering if Apple has a problem here but time will tell. I purchased the extended warranty primarily because I'm concerned about this issue.

The one annoying thing about this device is that you can't just drag and drop stuff to it. You have to either Sync to ONE computer with iTunes or else use streaming for up to 4 more iTunes computers. I'm running two iTunes Macs and 1 iTunes PC. It would nice to be able to shut off syncing and still be be able to just drag and drop what you want to it the way you can with an iPod. There is a method for deciding what you want to sync and not sync but it's poorly designed and you may find yourself doing a lot of clicking to select what you want and deselect what you don't.

I'm using the device on a 1080i wide screen TV. Most of the movies I am using have been converted using the Cucusoft version 2 and 6 software for the iPod. I'm very happy with the results!!! It's been very handy to take 50 or 60 movies on a USB2 hard drive when I travel. Most of the time I just watch them in a window on my laptop anyway so the quality if outstanding. On the AppleTV it's somewhat lower than one might expect from DVD but the convenience is worth it.

Overall, it's a delightful product!!

Digital camera Review: Delivers on promises
Summary: 4 Stars

Integrates well with my iMac and iTunes. Finally a seamless way to access all my music on my Mac and play through the house. Access to uTube and rentals works very well. Why not now add access to all Internet sites up on the big screen?

Digital camera Review: Easy, simple, incomplete
Summary: 4 Stars

Easy to install, easy to use, good quality, but It's unbelievable that itunes offers movies, tv shows, etc. without subtitles or close caption !!! many times the conection between apple tv and imac gets slow so it pause playing and makes you wait a couple of seconds. Sync only woks manually from you computer.

Digital camera Review: Excellent Product
Summary: 5 Stars

What a great product! I'm not the usual Apple devotee, (I'm still recovering from the time I wasted with the new 802.11n Airport Extreme - what a piece of junk) but this really is great.

In fact, I decided to give ATV a try when I returned my Airport Extreme to the Apple store. I suppose the Apple TV makes up for all of the hassle. It took less than five minutes to setup, with no problems at all. I'm back on my original 802.11g router and the video/audio streams great when I play directly from my PC. Reading the WSJ review on ATV, I think the point that this device is an 'ipod for your television' is a great description.

Highly recommended!
