Digital camera reviews of Apple Magsafe Airline Power Adapter MA598Z/ADigital camera Review: Does less than what said and it does it badly, hence get something else! Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this adapter together with my laptop at the end of 2007. Advertised at that time as Airline and Car adapter, then the info in the package said would not work with cars. Tried in car and once the car is started the light on the MagSafe would turn green, but the computer would say that battery is not charging. That would not be a big deal the problem is that's untrue. The battery is not only not charging but it's being drained as it gets used! What's the point of this adapter? Entirely garbage! It could be used only when flying first class and only if and when the aircraft has the necessary connectors. Even then you have to have "permission" of the crew as some may tell you the plugs are not working.
So stay away from this piece of overpriced plastic junk and get an adapter that can be use more often than once in a blue moon when while there's the right alignment!
Digital camera Review: Does what it says Summary: 5 Stars
I've used the adapter on two transatlantic flights and it works just like it's supposed to. I've been very pleased.
Digital camera Review: Does what it says it does Summary: 5 Stars
This is a simple product with a simple mission...to allow you to use your Apple laptop on a plane without worrying about draining your batteries during long trips. My only qualm is the cord could be a tad longer if the power port isn't right in front of you. (American Airlines customer service verified that SeatGuru.com was correct in where they identified the power ports as being, but it turned out both were off by one row in the back of the plane due a row of seats being added further front, (according to the flight attendant who said she's seen that happen numerous times). I was able to plug into the port in the row ahead of me both going to and returning from the Orient and the cord reached, but with nary a centimeter to spare.) The plug seems durable enough, despite other comments I've read. I personally can't imagine how some can get parts left in the power port, but that is something of which one should be aware as others have reported it. I found the cost well worth the price of not being bored out of my skull for two 14-hour trips, and it was worth it not to have to watch the same in-flight movie multiple times.
Digital camera Review: Don't Forget the Tip Summary: 3 Stars
The product does what it says. I would give it a higher rating if the design was better- you have to plug the cord into the tip and it is very easy to leave the tip in the outlet when you are unplugging it. I did it on the second trip and now it is useless because you cannot get a replacement tip.
Digital camera Review: Don't work with macbook pro Summary: 1 Stars
Beware don't work with macbook pro, I've tried in American, Continental and Delta even in my car, in the airlines blew the fuse in my car I get a green light but don't charge the battery.
