Digital camera reviews of Apple Mighty Mouse Kit

Digital camera Review: Mighty weak mouse
Summary: 1 Stars

This mouse sucks. I've had this product for years. The scroll wheel doesn't work. It isn't sensitive compared to other mice. To scroll down I have to click the sidebar which means more wrist effort. My wife's Lemel mouse was 25% the cost and is much more functional because it requires 25% of the wrist effort to move the cursor in the window and the scroll wheel works.

This product should be recalled. This is the second bad Apple mouse I've owned. Basta.

The only thing this mouse has going for it is the Apple look.

Digital camera Review: Mouse, minus the mighty
Summary: 2 Stars

Purchased this to avoid compatibility hassle with a Mac Mini. Honestly, its a serviceable mouse but nothing to get too excited about... unless your computer company has been denying you a real right mouse button for years. :-)

If you don't mind breaking the aesthetic appeal factor of all matching peripherals and you're confident of compatibility, spend your $50 more wisely on a third-party mouse.

Digital camera Review: Needs design work
Summary: 3 Stars

This is a great mouse, in that it looks very good, the functions are useful and intuitive and it is easy to manage. The only bad thing is that same issue everyone has, the wheel. It is the most useful part of the mouse, but stops working. I have one at work and one at home and both are already having issues. The one at work too a few month, but the one at home took a few weeks. I can't scroll up at home and I can't scroll down at work. Yes, I can take them to the Mac store and exchange them, yes I can blow air in them for a temporary fix. However, for the price it should not be an issue. One would think that the company that brought us the iPhone would have a touch screen o their mouse, but no.

Digital camera Review: Non-ergonomic but pretty
Summary: 1 Stars

The mighty mouse is a highly overrated piece of equipment. Even if you up the scroll speed by a large factor, it still seems laggy and imprecise. If you are used to a proper logitech or Microsoft mouse you will be disappointed. Most $15 mice are far better than this piece of equipment. If you use a gaming mousepad, forget about this mouse.

In particular the mighty mouse gets dirty in a way no other mouse could. I have to clean the scroll ball approximately twice a week to keep it working. I am a fairly clean person and have cleaned my logitech mouse (approx 9 months old) exactly 0 times.

If this mouse didn't come with your computer, then do not bother buying it!

Digital camera Review: Not My Favorite...
Summary: 3 Stars

I'm a big fan of Apple products and this mouse is certainly better than a mouse you'd find bundled with a Dell or HP computer. But, there are definitely better mice out there and after 6 months I had to replace mine.

PROS:
- Sleek, slim and lightweight for a mouse.

CONS:
- The trackball behavior is spotty at best. I'm not a fan of the "grinding" feedback from the trackball, I much prefer the smooth scrolling action of a mouse from MS.
- As with any other Apple product, the price you pay for owning a slick, streamlined product is that you're unable to open the product up for maintenance. After a few months of use, dirt accumulated within the trackball area and there is no way to open the mouse up for a cleaning (without special tools and some technical know-how). As a result, the trackball would stop scrolling in certain directions.
- $$$$$. If this were a $15 mouse, I'd gladly keep buying these. At the $50 price point, there are a LOT of better mice available to choose from with better ergonomics and extra functions.
