Digital camera reviews of Apple Mighty Mouse Wireless Kit

Digital camera Review: Disappointed
Summary: 2 Stars

The mouse is not ergonomically designed and is too sensitive to any clicks. Because the left and right buttons are disguised under one surface, it's hard to use. The scroll ball is perfectly sensitive and love the option to scroll left and right. But I do not think it'll be easy to clean all the dust that will be trapped in the device. The side buttons need to be pressed hard to activate. Overall, I would not pay $50+ for this mouse. After 3 hours of use, my wrist, hand and even my arm begins to ache. I only received it through a promotion apple was having at the time I purchased an imac. Save your money.

Digital camera Review: Do Not Buy This
Summary: 2 Stars

ive been through 2 of these always the same problem stops scrolling after a while. you can clean it with alchol but after a while even that doesnt work. the bluetool signal disconnects all the time but after a while you get used to it. im not gonna buy a 3rd this mouse sucks the scrolling is horrible and it doesnt last. battery life is not bad but when compared to other mouses out there it sucks i replace the batteries like every 2months and a half other mouses its usually like 6 months.

Digital camera Review: Don't buy this mouse!
Summary: 1 Stars

I've had the Apple wireless mighty mouse for 2 or 3 months. Mine has just succumbed to the well-known scroll wheel problem (i.e. scrolling in one direction doesn't work anymore) - how Apple can sell these pieces-of-junk is beyond me.

In addition to this show-stopper problem I've got one other major whine... the right mouse click doesn't work very well. If my fingers are EVEN NEAR the left side of the mouse the right click doesn't work. I have to lift my index finger completely off the mouse to get it to work. When I first got the mouse, the right mouse button click wasn't even enabled (does no one play games on the Mac???) and I had to do some research to figure out how to turn right clicking on. Amazing...

So today it's hello Logitech and bye-bye Apple...

Digital camera Review: Don't rely on this one
Summary: 1 Stars

This mouse (wired version) came with my iMac. After a while the scroll ball quit working. Fine. They sent me a new one under warranty. Same thing. This time they upgraded me to the wireless version. Same. Damn. Thing. I'm now on my fourth Mighty Mouse, second wireless one. The only reason I haven't gotten another model is Apple keeps sending me new ones. But my Apple Care program runs out this year, and you sure won't catch me shelling out for a new one on my nickel.

Do yourself a favor and pay attention to the ratings on this one. It's not one of Apple's finer moments.

P.S. (6 Apr 09) Since I wrote this, I have retired this mouse entirely in favor of an old Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical USB, which performs flawlessly. The Mighty Mess was starting to lose scrolling function again, and from past experience I know that it would eventually quit altogether. Also, as others have noted, this voracious critter eats batteries like food pellets. Even if you remember to turn it off at night, you'll still run through a brand-new pair of AAs in about a month. Not kidding. I have a Bluetooth travel mouse for my iBook and haven't changed the batteries once since 2006.

In sum: Apple should have recalled this thing when it came out. It's a blot on their reputation.

Digital camera Review: Don't waste your money
Summary: 1 Stars

I love Macs and just about everything else Apple makes, but this mouse is an absolute piece of garbage. I keep my office spotless and dust-free and yet this mouse was constantly "dirty" and the trackball kept getting stuck from within a few weeks of buying it.

I can't even begin to add up how much time I wasted "cleaning" the trackball, which in other words means furiously moving it while holding the mouse upside-down, per Apple's weak "cleaning instructions."

Finally the thing just crapped out and stopped working one day. Good riddance. I'm a lot happier using the wired mouse that came with the computer. This mouse is junk - save your money & wasted time spent on endless "cleaning" and avoid the headaches.

One last thought - if you do get it, start buying batteries in jumbo bulk cases because this thing eats up batteries like nothing I've ever seen before.
