Digital camera reviews of Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter MB570Z/A

Digital camera Review: DVI-D only
Summary: 1 Stars

Beware, this adapter only passes along a digital signal. It is missing four pins around the slot that enable it to work with CRT monitors and projectors. Hence, you can't combine a DVI->VGA adapter with this one. You must buy a second adapter. I expected more for $30.

Digital camera Review: Disappointing
Summary: 3 Stars

This item seems to have limited color depth. It looks like 16 bit color rather than 24 bit or Hi Color. It works fine for static display of the desktop and applications, but falls on its face when displaying continuous tone still images or video. Videos are heavily artifacted with obvious color bands and blocked up areas of shifted color due to video DAC quantization error. My application required connection of an XGA projector with a VGA analog input (15 pin) connection to a MacBook. Results were minimally acceptable for video. The same projector works fine with a PC notebook that has a native VGA connector built in. Photographers and videographers should pass up this item. I got the Apple product due to reliability concerns with third party vendors. I hope Apple lives up to my expectations for reliability.

Digital camera Review: DisplayPort to DVI connector
Summary: 4 Stars

The connector works as advertised but if there is any substantial movement of the MAC it can (and has) come loose. Apple should have provided a second DVI port on the card so as to avoid the need for the connector.

Digital camera Review: Does what it is supposed to do.
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this so that I could project streaming video from my laptop to my HD television via an HDMI cable. I have a MacBook Pro that I purchased in December of 2008 and this adapter works perfectly. The video is streamed to the TV which acts as a second monitor that is "virtually" off to the right of the laptop screen. You have to drag the viewing window to the far right of the laptop screen. As the window disappears to the right, it will come into view on the TV. The quality is excellent. I found that I had to connect everything together and then turn on the TV so that it would recognize the input. You may also need to go in and tweak your monitor settings on the laptop. You will also need an audio cable which you attach to the headphone jack and then the audio in on the TV. This product does what I bought it to do. I have no complaints.

Digital camera Review: Easy as pie.
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought this when I purchased my MacBook Pro to connect to my ViewSonic LCD. Works perfectly, nice snug fit and can screw in the pegs to keep pins aligned. A must have to for any mac user needed a DVI to mini-display port connection.

Just like most apple products, it just works. Period.
