Digital camera reviews of Apple Nike+ Sport Armband for iPod nano 1G, 2GDigital camera Review: Where's the hole? Summary: 4 Stars
I love Nike+ items but this one has a bit of a problem (or maybe I do). Once it is on your arm it is quite complicated to find the bottom hole that allows to connect your headphones if you're trying to get them from inside your t-shirt and under the armband. The extra material at the end and the Nike+Ipod adapter makes it complicated to connect them without the help of a mirror.
Digital camera Review: Works great! Summary: 5 Stars
This armband is awsome for the price! Buttons are easy to access and it works well with the Nike+ system. It was a little difficult at first because you can't see the screen, but after using it a couple of times I don't see why you really need to see the screen. Well worth the low price!
Digital camera Review: Works perfectly, and I have HUGE arms! Summary: 5 Stars
Did any of the other reviewers follow the directions? This kit works great! I used this plus the Nike+ sensor kit and an Ipod Nano (1st gen) to train for USMC OCS and it worked like a charm. And at 6'2", 220lbs and a 270PFT I have HUGE upper arms!!
It is designed for one thing: holding the Nano&Nike+ sensor to your arm while running, and it keeps it nice and tight and flush, even when doing other exercises and crosstraining. The case is very thin and light, it is DESIGNED to be!!! It basically straps the ipod as tightly as possible to your arm, which I thought was great. Anyway, I think the other reviewers are idiots, this is a great case for runners of just about any size.
Digital camera Review: Works well for it's intended purpose. Summary: 4 Stars
At first I was disappointed with this armband because, like other reviewers, I thought I would want to see the display. But after many uses (over 50 runs), The only time I wish I could look at the screen is when my run is over (to end the run, you have to push Menu twice). So at the end of a run I end up disconnecting the headphones pulling, take the armband off, remove the Nano and hit menu, plug in my headphones to hear the voice of Lance Armstrong remark on a goal completed, or best time posted.
While running this armband fits great. I have large arms (17") and find this armband to fits great. I believe the problem people may have with the armband is not putting it on right. I've found that putting the armband on my wrist, then sliding it up around my arm works flawlessly. It's a very comftorable material, that doesn't itch or irritate. When sweating the armband stays in place and requires no "re-adjustment" at the end of the run.
Before the run you have to pick your playlist (I have about 30 10-15 song playlist that I choose from) prior to inserting the nano in the armband. Once inserted, a voice prompt (repeats every 15 seconds) reminds you to "press the center button to begin your workout".
The main center button for the nano is raised on the armband about a 1/4". This works great for getting periodic updates without having to stop and look down at the Ipod (no other ipod armband that I know of offers this feature).
Overall I do find the lack of display cumbersome during the beginning and ending of a run. However, I believe thie armband works very well for running. The raised center button and washable feature are It has required me to purchase another case (iskin) for daily uses outside of running, so this a not a "do everything" case. If it had a window, I'd give it five stars.
Digital camera Review: You might as well just get the new black & grey one Summary: 2 Stars
I thought to myself - I won't need to see the screen while I run. I'll just set my playlist ahead of time and go. And it's true, you could go that route. The product works fine that way. BUT - a few times I found that my playlist was too short, or I wanted to listen to something else. Also, while the Nike+ system does update you every .5 miles or so on your progress, I find having your distance monitored can be a little bit addictive like running on a treadmill. I constantly want to see how much I have done, how much I have left, and what my pace is. If you're like me in that respect, this is not your best bet. Quite simply, you need to stop running and at least partially remove your nano from the sleeve - which puts it at least a little bit at risk for a drop. The new grey and black Nike+ sport armband has a window to get rid of this problem. Obviously they made a new one because they did not think to address it in advance. Is it functional - yes. Is it the best option out there - not anymore.
