Digital camera Review: Nike and Apple tell me what to do...
Summary: 4 Stars

I have to admit I'm a big fan of Apple to the point where I started running in part because this device sounded really, really cool. I've found the sport kit reliable, easy to use and remarkably accurate. In addition, the software tracking end on Nike's website provides some great feedback. Where I've never had the patience to keep a running journal, this software does it for me automatically.

I've had problems with over training and under training. Now I'm using one of the 'Coaching' programs through Nike to balance improvement with lower risk of over training. While getting a training schedule is good, I don't like the limits of flexibility with the training. For example, if the schedule gives me two days off and I run a day early, it doesn't count as a 'training' run. Also, one can't just move a workout from one day to another, or shift a whole week. To change the workout, you have to create a new event, then make it match the origional one and delete the origional occurrence. If I shift a work out after actually doing the run, the existing run doesn't count as a workout. So usability could use some improvement.

This said, it is, however, amazing to see how much more regularly I run, and how evenly I improve with the most basic parts of the site.

Digital camera Review: Nike+ rocks!
Summary: 5 Stars

Get it, you will enjoy running more. You won't have to memorize mile markers, just press the button. We bought two more Nike+ within 24 hours of mom telling us after running, "That was wicked cool!"

Digital camera Review: No problems yet
Summary: 4 Stars

I got this for my mother, and she uses it for walking in weight watchers. She is not very technical and I just gave it to her and let her set it up by herself. She was able to figure it out on her own, with out my help! So yay apple!

Digital camera Review: Not Perfect - But Pretty Darn Great
Summary: 5 Stars

I have purchased three Nike + in the last two years (one every 8 months). I use it on long runs and short runs, and I find it to be fairly accurate for being a fancy "pedometer." If you really want an exact count, you should get a GPS watch. I wish the battery life were better, but it's inexpensive enough that you can replace it fairly easily. Overall, this is a great product and it works well.

Digital camera Review: Not for long distances, very unreliable
Summary: 1 Stars

I have purchased two of these over the last two years, and I am utterly disappointed in its performance. Most recently, I used it to run the Nike Women's Half in October 2008. I did the run virtually, and the Nike+ was so inaccurate that it took me 16 miles in order to reach the Half Marathon goal (I ran at a forest preserve, so I knew the mileage I was actually running). I had calibrated it the week before, knowing that my first one was notoriously unreliable.

I do not run in Nike shoes, so I used the Shoe Pouch (also available here at Amazon). The device worked well enough for distances under 4 miles, but the longer the distance, the worse it performed. I cannot describe how devastating it was to reach mile 12 of my half marathon, only to hear the Nike+ log me at 32 minutes/mile!

The Nike+ Web site is very cool, and I loved the encouragement and graphic training history, but the device is just so awful that I am willing to forfeit all of it. I am saving up for a Garmin.
