Digital camera Review: A Must-Have for the iPhone!!!

Now, finally, I can use my iPhone 3GS apps for real work!
I've been a touch-typist since High School (a LOOOOONG time ago!) and using the Apple comes-with virtual keyboard on the iPhone touchscreen has been just torture. Slow, inaccurate, frustrating.
Any app that required more than a few words of data entry was just too painful to use. I've been carrying around an ancient Palm IIIxe PDA because I am at least halfway good at entering information with the Graffiti stylus-based data entry tool.
When I have a lot of data to enter on my Palm, I have a folding Querty keyboard which allows me to plug it in and touch-type.
The Apple Bluetooth keyboard has now given me (almost) the same capability for my iPhone that I have enjoyed for years on my Palm. The Apple keyboard doesn't fold, so it isn't as portable as the Palm keyboard, but in every other respect it is just the tool I wanted.
It took me about five minutes to puzzle out how to get the keyboard to establish its Bluetooth connection with the iPhone. It's quite simple, once you know where to find the relevant iPhone screen (Settings>General>Bluetooth). Turn Bluetooth 'On' and then push the power button (right side, round face) on the keyboard. In a few moments the iPhone and the keyboard should discover each other. Then you you are prompted to enter a set of numbers, and the link becomes active.
You need some way to support the iPhone so you can see it easily while you type. I bought the Elago support which is, eh, okay. Not the best.
But now I can type and type and type and not feel like I am wasting my life trying to enter enough words to compose an email.
As a side note, I have downloaded the free Dragon Dictation app and tried it. Neat toy, but too inaccurate and too slow. On top of that you need a good wireless data connection for it to work. If you aren't connected to 3G service or Wi-Fi, you may be out of luck. Not only will you not get your transcription, but you will lose your dictation too! Bummer. Bad design and no excuse.
Someday we'll be able talk to our portable devices and not worry about having to go back and correct things. But that day isn't here yet. For now, Apple's Bluetooth keyboard is the hot setup.
Downside, it isn't something you can fit in your pocket, and it isn't something you can use without a desk. That's a shame, but if you want a full-sized set of keys, it's what you have to deal with.
