Although it is absolutely disgusting that you should need to buy anything like this in the first place - Apple should be ashamed - this adaptor does the job perfectly. I can now watch movies on my iphone during longhaul flights and use my excellent noise-cancelling Bose headphones.

Bought this adapter for use with my old iPhone 2G. Unfortunately for those who prefer superior sound quality, even in the realm of earbuds, the iPhone headphones just dont cut it. I prefer using aftermarket earbuds for better overall sound, but the iPhone 2G has that annoying recessed headphone jack that essentially makes it impossible to use a pair of headphones that dont have the straight tip plug.
The simple solution? Get one of these bad boys and youre good to go. Super inexpensive and solves the problem easily.
The one major downside to this thing is that over the course of a year the jack begins to wear down just a bit and can sound 'dirty' when you jiggle it around. It may have been a combination of both the old jack in my phone AND the quality of this product, but just let it be known that this guy wont last forever.
That being said, I was happy overall with the purchase, and it wont cost you an arm or a leg to buy one (or two as a backup) and get back to listening to all those tunes youve been storing on your phone.
