Digital camera reviews of Apple iPod 4 GB mini M9160LL/A (Silver) OLD MODEL

Digital camera Review: BY A BIGGER VERSION
Summary: 1 Stars

Firstly my ipod never stops freezing and i have to reset it about 3 times when ever I use it! The battery last for about 1 hour and my older sister just got hers today and charged it for over 4 hours and it isnt working properly already. I highly recomend u DO NOT by a ipod mini they are usless pieces of junk that should be put in the dump!

Digital camera Review: Bad Execution and battery life
Summary: 1 Stars

I ordered 1 from amazon and I am waiting for about 60 days and they expect to ship it in October of 04. Bought 2 ugly blue ones at another online site and I am having a nightmare with it. It skips like crazy when working out and even after a full days charge dies in battery time after 2hrs of use. The color shading is also strange , it differs from top to bottom. Also the quality of the sound seems poor with the default headphones. I purchased some fontopia ones and it seems clearer. The second mini which was a present was DOA, and calling apple did not help as they want to replace it with a refurb.

Digital camera Review: Bad Start but Nice Finish
Summary: 4 Stars

Despite the problems I encountered, I do give this product four stars. My problem was I could not turn the Ipod on. I kept getting a folder and an exclamation point symbol when trying to turn on the Ipod mini. I finally found the problem and solution on the Apple support site. Support was very helpful in getting the problem resolved [had to reformat the Ipod mini]. Once this was done, no problems whatsoever. The earbuds are not bad at all. I purchased a pair of Sennheiser PXC250 noise cancelling head phones but prefer the earbuds because of size. I'll use the Sennheiser when I take the plane. Not crazy about the enclosed battery...Other than that, I really like this Ipod mini.

Digital camera Review: Beautiful, sleek, tiny, and completely brainless ease of use
Summary: 5 Stars

Hands down, the iPod series have represented the absolute best in digital music players. While the unbelievably easy-to-use interface and seemless desktop integration have been Apple hallmarks since the dawn of time, even Windows users can enjoy this legendary legacy of hardware-software integration. Add to that the iTunes music store, with its massive catalog of over 500,000 songs to chose from (and I think I've already personally bought most of these!), then there's little else left to debate. Sure, there are competing online music vendors out there, but Apple's iTunes Music Store has got it perfect.

But I can't say all that much negative about the iPod Mini. It's light. It's tiny enough to slip into a pocket. It's sleek. It's beautiful. (It gets noticed a lot more than I do!) The sound is awesome. Whether mp3, aiff, wav, or aac (the mp4 format that blows the doors off older formats in terms of quality packed into a small amount of memory), the sound coming out of this baby is, in a word, luscious.

Speaking of memory, at 4 gigabytes, you've got more than enough to keep you listening to tunes non-stop for 4 sleepless days of driving --- and without hearing the same song twice. Since you can easily adjust which songs stored on your desktop you want to carry around with you, the only limit you have is the size of your computer's hard drive. I've got nearly 1000 tunes on the iPod, out of a few thousand more we keep stored at home.

The only real down side may be the 4 GB limit. With a 40 GB iPod out there, and not that much more expensive, those who really desire more gigs have a sleek and beautiful option out there.

Bottom Line: Fabulous digital music player, seemless integration with your desktop computer and Apple's online music store, and pleanty of "wow" factor all packed into a tiny acoustic dynamo.

Digital camera Review: Beautifully designed and crafted, but overpriced
Summary: 4 Stars

There is no doubt that this is a beautiful piece of workmanship. I have an Apple-obsessed friend that I have teased for years about his Apple fixation. So when I bought this secondhand beauty I emailed him my impression:

"Build quality and packaging are exceptional, truly first rate. Excellent tactility. Apple really has that part sorted out; I'm impressed.
Screen and CPU somewhat less magnificent."

Part of my teasing of this pleasant fellow was due to my experience with iTunes; I had given in to his constant evangelism about my trying it out. iTunes represented, for me, all that is wrong with software. Unjustifiably massive bloat, braindead 70MB updates, resource hogging, and treating the user like he has been lobotomized (or hypnotized by Apple). So no iTunes for me, no matter what. The solution?

"The OS is so-so and iTunes is the Root Of All Evil, so I installed
rockbox on it and am enjoying it immensely. I load
mp3/ogg/flac/whatever by copying across the USB connection.
(rockbox dot org)"

Rockbox lets me use that beautiful Apple hardware with an interface that puts /me/ in control. And I can play ogg, flac, Still, I find myself using the iPod less than a Sansa e260 that had an MSRP 3-4x less than the iPod. The Sansa has a color screen, better video playback (yes, you can play video on your mini with rockbox. It also has something that might seem trivial: a place to attach a lanyard.

Since I use the Sansa for mobile listening I might get one of those audio docks to use the iPod with my stereo system.
