As one of my concessions to the state of the environment, I now commute to work on Sacramento's Light Rail. It is crowded, noisy, and chaotic. Until I insert my purple iPod's earbuds. We purchased the shuffle for our niece for her birthday. I have never seen such excitement. This is an inexpensive way to introduce an 8 year old to the iPod phenomenon and also give her the opportunity to "take good care" of something she values. Also, parents and guardians can only load the type of music that is appropriate for that age group. We downloaded some cartoon soundtracks and a few country songs to get her started. I used to use a 30g ipod and a 8g ipod touch but i find that its a lot easier to work out with the shuffle. Since i only use it in the gym, not lcd having an is fine as i put on 50 songs that i cycle through. Wouldn't really recommend for those who want to control what they listen to. More like a clip on playlist.
