Digital camera reviews of Apple iPod shuffle 4 GB Silver (3rd Generation) OLD MODEL

Digital camera Review: Easy Listening On The Go
Summary: 5 Stars

Apple is wonderful in creating the lightest and easiest way in listening to music when on the move. That ipod shuffle with its slick design is great while using it at the gym, jogging or at the beach. Friends of mine are amazed at the audio quality and i do have to keep a close eye when at home. Might just disappear. Its a great audio player.

Digital camera Review: Excellent provided you own adaptor for your earphones
Summary: 5 Stars

Now that Scosche has produced Tapline and Tapstick, we have our choice of means to use ANY earphones with this generation shuffle. I use my Westone UM3x earphones with Tapline and the new shuffle and could not be happier. It sounds great, easy to use, tiny little ipod with 4 Gig's making all that great music!

Without the adaptors to use my favorite earphones, I have no use for this shuffle at all.

Yeah the adaptors add expense - $20 for Tapline or $30 for Tapstick - but it's not all that much money in the scheme of things. 4 Gig!

Fun.

Digital camera Review: Failed Innovation
Summary: 1 Stars

I got the shuffle for one purpose, music while exercising. For that, a shuffle is perfect. No need to get the armband to hold it, no display that will be scratched up and simple controls.

It works ok the first 10 minutes and then it gets possessed by the Apple Robot. From that point on, it's impossible to control. Volume ramps up and down, the Apple Robot starts talking about playlists and skipping around in the middle of songs.

Moving the controls the earphone wire is nothing new. I had a Sony MD player more than 10 years ago that had that and I really liked that. You clipped the remote where it was convenient to access the controls and you could plug in any headphones into the remote. Guess that was a more expensive way of doing it. Still cheaper than dealing with a growing mountain of returned failed units.

Digital camera Review: Fearless and well-chosen
Summary: 5 Stars

It is not serious to compare a portable iPod like the Classic 120GB or some other smaller portable players with the new iPod shuffle 4GB, they are designed for completely different situations. The iPod Classic 120GB is intended for profound music lovers that need portability, the newest iPod Shuffle is ideal and truly excellent for Gymnastics, jogging or sports in general (a majority of the people that buy this MP3 player), not for people who want to select albums and hundreds of songs or watch videos. Although excellent I have to admit you need the new Apple pair of In-Ear Headphones with remote if you want to run, not the free Earbuds included with the iPod shuffle 4GB. Apple ought to change this poor philosophy and be more generous: the earbuds are not useful for running or doing any physical exercise. The third generation of the iPod Shuffle is the only one (useful if you choose a few favorite songs, not many) it is possible to use the Apple Lossless Encoder: best sound quality, better than AAC or MP3. The iPod designers are really brave leaving out unnecessary features that a product like this does not need. Congratulations once more to the fearless ( heroic for conservative people) and right designers.

Digital camera Review: Frequent earphone failures
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought the iPod Shuffle 3rd generation specifically for the gym, since the iPod touch that I own is rather bulky. Unfortunately, on my second workout the iPod Shuffle quit working. Apple replaced the earphones and the iPod started working again. On my next workout, the volume suddenly went to full volume and stayed there. Again, Apple replaced the earphones. Two workouts after that and the iPod shuffle would no longer play, select playlists, etc. Again, Apple replaced the earphones. The iPod has since quit working yet again! The earphones have the controls placed such that they hang against my neck. I suspect that when I sweat the moisture causes the controls to short out. I've been very pleased with all my previous iPod models as well as other Apple products. But the 3rd generation iPod shuffle is a lemon!!!
